  • Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Tosses bullpen

Rodriguez (lat) mixed in breaking balls during Friday's bullpen session, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez had his recovery from an elbow injury derailed by triceps and lat injuries. However, he's focusing solely on his lat rehab and has begun throwing off a mound. The 25-year-old will need plenty of time to build up before being activated, so he shouldn't be expected back until August at the earliest.

  • Tyler Wells SP | BAL

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Completes another bullpen

Wells (elbow) threw a bullpen Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Wells has been throwing bullpens since late April and is expected to face live hitters sometime within the next week or two. He's been working his way back from UCL surgery. Wells shouldn't be back until at least early August.

  • Kyle Bradish SP | BAL

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: To face live hitters next week

Bradish (elbow) will head to Baltimore's complex in Florida on Sunday and will begin throwing live batting practice, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Bradish is on track in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, recently completing a goal he set in May of facing live hitters at the start of July. Bradish will likely require a few live sessions before seeing game action. He shouldn't be expected back until at least early August.

  • Mets' Blade Tidwell: Back in majors

The Mets recalled Tidwell from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Tidwell takes the roster spot of Griffin Canning, who's been diagnosed with a ruptured left Achilles tendon and placed on the 60-day injured list. Tidwell appears to be the likeliest option to replace Canning in the rotation until the Mets get one or more of their other injured starters back. Tidwell has made two starts this season, posting a 9.82 ERA and 6:6 K:BB across 7.1 innings of work.

  • Mets' Griffin Canning: Diagnosed with ruptured Achilles

The Mets placed Canning on the 60-day injured list with a ruptured left Achilles tendon Friday.

Canning struck out three and gave up just one hit in 2.2 innings Thursday against Atlanta before he had to be removed from the game and helped off the field. To those that saw the injury, this was the expected outcome. Canning will miss the remainder of the 2025 season and possibly even the start of the 2026 campaign, as he has a lengthy rehab ahead of him. Canning was enjoying a career season with the Mets, but it's now over with a 7-3 record, 3.77 ERA and 70:35 K:BB across 76.1 innings and 16 starts. Blade Tidwell has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Officially activated for start

Freeland (back) has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will start Friday's game against the Brewers.

As expected, Freeland will return after the minimum 15 days on the injured list. The southpaw didn't go on a rehab assignment but isn't expected to be under any restrictions. Freeland owns a 5.13 ERA and a 57:15 K:BB over 14 starts for the Rockies in 2025. Anthony Molina was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Sent down after spot start

The Orioles optioned Young to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Young was brought up to make a start Wednesday against Texas, and he yielded four runs in four innings during the appearance. He'll head back to Norfolk, where he's logged a 2.63 ERA and a 17:4 K:BB across 27.1 innings. Kade Strowd will take Young's spot on the active roster.

  • Giants' Carson Seymour: Set for first MLB stint

The Giants recalled Seymour from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Seymour joined the Giants' system back in 2022 via trade, and after working his way through the organization, Seymour will join San Francisco's active roster for the first time in his career. He worked exclusively as a starter at Triple-A, logging a 3.89 ERA and an 83:37 K:BB over 74 innings. While the Giants aren't in need of another starting pitcher, Seymour could replace Hayden Birdsong at the back end of the rotation if Birdsong's struggles persist.

  • Mets' Blade Tidwell: Set to rejoin big club

The Mets will recall Tidwell from Triple-A Syracuse prior to Friday's game in Pittsburgh, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

He would appear set to fill the 26-man roster spot vacated by Griffin Canning, who is likely in line for an extended absence after suffering an Achilles injury in Thursday's win over Atlanta. Tidwell will be available out of the bullpen for now, but he is an option to fill Canning's rotation spot, at least until Sean Manaea (oblique/elbow) is ready.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Set to return Friday

Eovaldi (triceps) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Mariners, MLB.com reports.

The Rangers will activate him from the IL a few hours prior to Friday's 8:05 p.m. ET opening pitch. Eovaldi has ben on the shelf since June 1 due to right triceps fatigue, but he's been given the green light to rejoin the Rangers rotation after bypassing a minor-league rehab assignment and instead tossing about 50 pitches over three simulated innings of live batting practice last weekend. He checked out fine after a bullpen session Monday and isn't expected to be operating with any major workload restrictions Friday.
