Walters was officially optioned to Triple-A on Monday.

As expected, Walters will start the year after being considered somewhat of a longshot to make the Opening Day roster. The 26-year-old will attempt to work his way to the major league level at some point this season as he returns from shoulder surgery.

Martinez (head) was reassigned to minor league camp Saturday.

He has not played in the big leagues since 2011, and is likely ticketed for Triple-A Norfolk to serve as organizational depth in the middle infield. Martinez is also recovering from getting hit in the head by a liner in a Grapefruit League game earlier this week.

Sardinas is battling a tight calf muscle and won't play in Friday's game, the Tacoma News-Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.

It sounds like a very minor issue, as Dutton reports that Sardinas should be back in action Saturday. Sardinas can play both middle infield spots well, and can also play third base in a pinch, which is giving him the leg up on the competition to break camp as the Mariners' utility infielder.

Baldoquin was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday.

The 21-year-old shortstop had a solid showing with the Angels' big league camp this spring, going 3-for-8 with two doubles and four RBI over six games. He'll head down to minor league camp to get more reps and he remains a ways away from cracking the major league roster.

Lindor is 3-for-8 with one RBI, two walks, and one stolen base through three games this spring.

Lindor is coming off his first major league season in which he hit .313/.353/.482 with 12 home runs 51 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in just 99 games played. Barring injury, the 22-year-old will be in the lineup everyday, leading to an increase in counting statistics and overall offensive production and making him one of the top fantasy options at shortstop for 2016.

Walters (shoulder) went 0-for-1 on Sunday and is now 0-for-10 with five strikeouts this spring.

The 26-year-old underwent surgery in the offseason to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. While he has not faced any restrictions this spring, it seems Walters is struggling a bit to regain his form in the early going. The Indians' outfield is wide open with Michael Brantley injured and Abraham Almonte suspended, but Walters is believed to be a long shot to break camp with the big club.

Martinez (head) feels better Tuesday after taking a blow to the head in a Grapefruit League game Sunday, MASN Sports reports.

Martinez seems to have dodged a major injury. He still has some soreness in his neck and he figures to miss a couple more games. It remains to be seen if Martinez will avoid the first round of cuts.

Martinez stayed down for a while before walking off under his own power. This has signs of being a concussion and we should no more within the next day or so. Martinez was trying to make the team as a non-roster invitee, but he was likely destined to begin the season at Double-A or Triple-A.

Sardinas is the favorite to win the Seattle utility job, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Sardinas is more versatile than his competition, Chris Taylor and Shawn O'Malley. He plays middle infield and third base, switch hits and is a better pinch-running option. Sardinas also started working this week at center field, where he could potentially serve as a backup to Leonys Martin. Taylor is new to third base, and O'Malley isn't as strong at shortstop. It's Sardinas' job to lose with the other two headed back to Triple-A.

Correa made his Grapefruit League debut Friday, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored against the Cardinals.

Correa, who is working on hitting the ball up the middle, said he's seeing ball well, which is all that matters at this point. "The preparation has been there," the 21-year-old said. "I've been very confident in my preparation and just focus on the season. Spring training is to get ready in order to have a great year and help your team eventually win a championship."
