Correa went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a walk in Thursday's Opening Day win at Kansas City.

Correa played through plantar fasciitis in his left foot for most of last season but was pain-free in spring training. After one game it looks like full health could result in a bounce-back season. Correa slashed just .230/.312/.399 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI in 580 plate appearances last season.

Baez went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's 1-0 win over the White Sox. He also stole a base.

Baez manufactured the game's lone run in the third inning. He led off the frame with a single, stole second, then advanced to third and scored on a pair of sacrifice flies. While it's a decently promising start for the shortstop, it was concerning to see him bat eighth on Opening Day. Baez may be able to have a bounceback campaign in 2024, though it would help his cause if he's able to move up in the order.

Berti is not in the lineup for Thursday's opener in Houston, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

After the Yankees acquired him from the Marlins on Wednesday, Berti hopped a flight to Houston but didn't land until 2 a.m. local time, so Yankees manager Aaron Boone elected to start Oswaldo Cabrera over Berti at third base. Both players should see at-bats at the hot corner until DJ LeMahieu (foot) is ready to return from the injured list.

Franco was placed on administrative leave Thursday through an agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association under the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The transaction removes Franco from the Rays' 40-man roster and is effective through June 1. The stay could end sooner than that if there are any developments in Franco's investigation or could be extended if there are none. Because he is on administrative leave and not the restricted list, Franco will be paid his $2 million salary.

Manager Aaron Boone said Berti could start at third base Thursday against the Astros if he arrives in Houston with enough time to prepare, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Berti was acquired from the Marlins in a three-team trade Wednesday, and it's possible he's in the lineup for the Yankees a day later for Opening Day. The super-utility player should see significant action at the hot corner early in the season with DJ LeMahieu (foot) and Oswald Peraza (shoulder) beginning the campaign on the injured list.

Barrero was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday after clearing waivers, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Barrero will end up staying in the Texas organization and should see plenty of playing time at Round Rock this season as he makes the full-time transition to the outfield after spending most of his career to date as an infielder.

The Yankees acquired Berti from the Marlins on Wednesday in a three-team trade involving the Rays, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. John Cruz and Shane Sasaki were sent to the Marlins and Ben Rortvedt went to the Rays in the deal.

Berti provides the Yankees with some protection in the infield with both DJ LeMahieu (foot) and Oswald Peraza (shoulder) sidelined, and he's capable of handling the outfield, as well. He could get some starts at third base early on in the season while LeMahieu is out.

Grissom (groin) will stay back in extended spring training until April 7, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Grissom will join the Red Sox at Fenway Park for their home opener at that point before heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Manager Alex Cora previously mentioned mid-to-late April as Grissom's timetable for a return, so the rehab assignment figures to last a week or two. Grissom missed all of spring training with hamstring and groin injuries but has been participating in baseball activities lately.

Seager started at shortstop and went 0-for-3 in Monday's exhibition game against Boston.

Seager, who missed most of the Cactus League with a groin injury, increased his activity from Sunday's spring debut. He went from two to three at-bats and three to six innings. The two teams will play another game Tuesday, and Seager is expected to participate. It's unclear if he'll play the full nine innings, but that is probably something the Rangers would want to see before Thursday's Opening Day matchup against the Cubs.

Diaz (calf) remains limited in his baseball activities and is still without a timetable for return, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.

Diaz figures to need a rehab assignment of fairly lengthy duration whenever he is ready to begin ramping up, considering the calf strain he's currently dealing with occurred while rehabbing a groin strain. The combination of the two injuries adds up to nearly a month, and counting, of absences from game action, and Diaz appears to still be multiple weeks away from stepping back into a batter's box.
