  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Still nursing side soreness

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said that Montgomery is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Royals due to continued soreness in his left side, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery missed one game last week with the same injury. He returned to action last Wednesday and has gone 6-for-20 with four home runs and one double in his five starts since then, but Montgomery apparently still hasn't totally moved past the injury. Getz noted that imaging on Montgomery's side came back negative, so consider the rookie infielder day-to-day heading into Thursday's series opener versus the Yankees.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Montgomery is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Royals.

Montgomery extended his streak of games with a home run to four during Tuesday's 5-4 loss, but the left-handed hitter is out of the lineup a day later, even with the Royals sending righty Ryan Bergert to the bump. The rookie infielder missed a game last week due to side soreness, so it's possible he could be less than 100 percent. Chase Meidroth will play shortstop and Lenyn Sosa will be at second base for the White Sox in the series finale.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

    Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Progressing well

Kim (back) fielded grounders Wednesday, and Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team is "happy with the progression" the infielder has made, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Kim has been receiving treatment for lower-back inflammation and appears to be trending in the right direction. He's eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Saturday, and the infielder may be ready to return by then. Carson Williams is off to a hot start while filling in for Kim at shortstop, but he could be pushed aside soon if the Rays elect to reinstall Kim as their primary option at the position.

  • Tanner Schobel SS | MIN

Twins' Tanner Schobel: Returns to Triple-A lineup

Schobel (forearm) started at third base and went 1-for-4 on Tuesday in Triple-A St. Paul's 5-4 win over Toledo after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Schobel had been on the shelf since June 15 due to a right forearm fracture before being cleared to rejoin the Triple-A club this week after completing a three-game rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers. Over 12 games with St. Paul on the season, Schobel is hitting .231/.348/.410 with one home run.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Goes deep again Tuesday

Neto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in a loss to Texas on Tuesday.

Neto had two of the Angels' three extra-base hits in the defeat -- a double to lead off the game and a solo blast to left-center field in the ninth inning. It was the second straight game with a long ball for the young shortstop, and Neto has gone deep eight times over 23 games in August. He's added 17 RBI, 10 runs, two stolen bases and a .247/.320/.584 slash line so far this month.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Homers in Tuesday's loss

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Montgomery opened up the scoring with a solo blast off Michael Lorenzen in the second inning. It's his fourth straight game leaving the yard and he's racked up nine RBI over that span. Montgomery now has 14 homers in 43 career games, though that comes with a .230 batting average and .287 on-base percentage.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Flashes skills in Tuesday's win

Story went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Orioles.

The shortstop took Kyle Bradish deep in the second inning, giving Lucas Giolito all the run support he would need. It's the third time this season Story has recorded a homer and a steal in the same game, with two of those performances coming in the second half of August. On the month, he's slashing .303/.374/.494 with four of his 21 home runs and six of his 23 steals on the year, adding 18 runs and 18 RBI in 23 contests.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Blasts 12th homer

Wilson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Wilson opened the scoring with his first-inning homer and generated another RBI in the third. He's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with two homers and eight RBI over five games since returning from a forearm fracture. Wilson has shown no rust, and the shortstop now has a .311/.353/.450 slash line with 12 homers, 53 RBI, 50 runs scored and five stolen bases over 99 contests this season.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Pops solo homer in win

Seager went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

Seager hit the 20-homer plateau for the season Tuesday, which marks his fourth consecutive year accomplishing this feat. The star shortstop has remained one of fantasy's top four-category producers at shortstop when healthy in 2025. Since the start of July, Seager is slashing .293/.396/.530 with 10 big flies, 13 doubles, 25 RBI and 31 runs scored covering his last 212 plate appearances.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Sweeney isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Sweeney will grab a seat on the bench after going 1-for-2 with a strikeout in Monday's game. Zach McKinstry will enter the lineup to start at shortstop while batting seventh.
