David Fletcher 2B | ATL
Angels' David Fletcher: May need rehab assignment
Fletcher (hip) could be ready soon after the Angels return home Friday, though he may need a rehab assignment, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Fletcher has been out for nearly a week with a strained left hip. It looks as though he could be ready for game action within the next week, but his first game action may not come at the major-league level. Andrew Velazquez has handled shortstop in his absence.

Nick Allen SS | HOU
Athletics' Nick Allen: Joins big-league club
Allen was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Allen missed out on Oakland's Opening Day roster but will now join the big club with six players heading to the COVID-19 injured list. It may not be a long stay in the majors for the 23-year-old, but he could see a few opportunities with Jed Lowrie (undisclosed) and Chad Pinder (undisclosed) among the players sidelined.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Three hits in loss
Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Twins.
Bogaerts stayed hot Monday, posting a second consecutive three-hit performance and raising his batting average from .290 to .333 in the process. After having only three hits in his prior six games, the shortstop has tallied six in the last two days, including two doubles. He continues to remain one of the elite options at his position in 2022.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Stuck in bench role
Diaz will return to the bench for Monday's game against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Diaz enjoyed a run of five consecutive starts from April 8 through 13, but his playing time has tailed off following Yuli Gurriel's recent return from paternity leave. He'll be on the bench Monday for the third time in four games, and at-bats are likely to become even harder to come by for Diaz with Yordan Alvarez (illness) making his return to the lineup after a five-game stint on the COVID-19 injured list.

Andrew Velazquez SS | TEX
Angels' Andrew Velazquez: Reaches base three times Sunday
Velazquez went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base Sunday in an 8-3 victory versus the Rangers.
Velazquez and Tyler Wade were catalysts for Los Angeles from the bottom of the order, as the 8-9 hitters combined for three hits, three walks and three runs. Velazquez made his biggest impact in the sixth inning, when he singled to score Jo Adell, stole second and scored on Wade's single. Velazquez has reached base safely in four of his five games with the Angels but is hitting just .188. He's drawn four walks, however, for a .350 OBP.

Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
White Sox's Tim Anderson: Remains aggressive on basepaths
Anderson went 0-for-3 with a walk Sunday against the Rays.
Anderson reached base for the only time in the fifth inning on a walk, and he proceeded to steal his second bag of the season. Though Anderson went hitless Sunday, he has tallied four multi-hit games in seven starts on the campaign.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Collects three hits in win
Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over Minnesota.
Bogaerts may be emerging from a mini-slump that saw him go 2-for-18 over a five-game stretch. In two weekend games, the shortstop went 4-for-8 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Sitting on Marathon Monday
Story is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
The Red Sox will kick off their first game of the week and final game of their series with Minnesota at 11:10 a.m. ET, so Story's absence from the lineup merely looks to be the result of the quick turnaround. The 29-year-old also recently overcame a bout with a non-COVID-19-related illness and made starts in four of the past five days, going a collective 5-for-16 at the plate. Christian Arroyo will step in for Story at second base.
-
Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Racks up three hits
Mateo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.
All three of Mateo's hits were singles, including one in the eighth inning that plated Kelvin Gutierrez. Mateo hasn't been afraid to show off his speed in 2022, recording three stolen bases in his first nine games. He's played primarily at shortstop, posting a .267/.353/.300 slash line with three RBI and three runs scored through 35 plate appearances.

Pena is slashing .345/.375/.621 while starting the first eight games of the season and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Aledmys Diaz will take over at shortstop for Houston.
