  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Hitting on the rise

Anderson went 2-for-6 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 12-8 extra-innings win over the Reds.

Anderson's batting average and on-base percentage remain mediocre, but he's delivered value in other areas. The stolen base was his team-high 18th, and he also leads the team with 47 runs scored. Until a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't even describe his average as mediocre -- he was hitting .230 on June 20 -- but Anderson's hit safely in 11 of last 12 games, going 18-for-49 (.367) with 11 runs, two home runs and seven RBI.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Heads to bench in series finale

Bogaerts is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.

Bogaerts moves to the bench following a stretch of nine straight starts that concluded Tuesday, when he went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks and three RBI. Brock Holt receives the starting nod at shortstop in the series finale and will bat second.

  • David Fletcher 2B | ATL

Angels' David Fletcher: Leads off Tuesday

Fletcher led off and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Mariners.

Fletcher has recently taken over as the Halos' primary option at the hot corner, starting six of the club's last seven contests. Designated hitter Shohei Ohtani's return from the disabled list could complicate that situation, pushing Albert Pujols back to first base and creating a platoon at third with Luis Valbuena and Fletcher. The rookie has performed adequately through his first 44 games (.317/.364/.390), so there is a chance that he has done enough to avoid falling on the short side of a platoon. The Angels are scheduled to take on three right-handed starters over their next four games, and the lineups for those games will provide a clearer picture regarding Fletcher's role moving forward.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Hits 13th home run

Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 11-4 win over the Nationals.

The home run was Bogaerts' 13th of the season -- his first since June 17 -- and broke the game open to give the Red Sox a 9-2 lead during a six-run fifth inning. The 25-year-old has a .276/.341/.504 slash line over 272 at-bats in 2018.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Late addition to Tuesday's lineup

Mondesi will start at shortstop for Tuesday's game against the Indians, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Mondesi was set to ride the bench Tuesday but Mike Moustakas was a late scratch due to back spasms, pressing the 22-year-old into the lineup.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: On bench Tuesday

Mondesi is not starting Tuesday against Cleveland, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Mondesi has played regularly since his mid-June callup but hasn't done much with the bat, hitting just .184/.205/.342 in 12 games. Alcides Escobar will start at shortstop Tuesday.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Blue Jays' Aledmys Diaz: Day off Tuesday

Diaz is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

Diaz will sit for the first time since returning from an ankle injury June 1. Lourdes Gurriel will get the start at shortstop.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Rays' Willy Adames: On bench Tuesday

Adames is not starting Tuesday against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The young infielder is hitting a somewhat disappointing .225/.282/.338 through his first 20 major-league games, striking out 35.9 percent of the time. Adeiny Hechavarria will start at shortstop Tuesday.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Drives in seven Monday

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a career-high seven RBI and three runs in Monday's 9-3 win over the Royals.

Lindor broke the game open with a grand slam in the fourth inning and knocked Royals starter Jakob Junis out of the game with a three-run blast in the sixth inning. It was the shortstop's third consecutive game with a home run, with Lindor tallying six extra-base hits over that span. The power surge has lifted Lindor's OPS to a career-best .954, good for eighth in the majors among qualified hitters.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Out with hamstring strain

Adrianza was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

It's unclear how serious Adrianza's injury is or how long he'll be out. When he returns, it will likely be in a utility role, as starting shortstop Jorge Polanco was reinstated from his suspension Monday.
