  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Matches career high in homers

Bogaerts hit his 12th homer of the season in Boston's 4-3 loss to Detroit on Wednesday.

The power game that was lacking his first few seasons is coming along. Bogaerts' .478 slugging percentage is a career high and the 12 homers matches the high-water mark he set in 2014. The difference being that Bogaerts' 12th homer in 2016 came in his 97th game while it took him 134 games to hit 12 homers in 2014. Enjoy this blossoming young hitter, who ranks 13th with a 4.0 WAR according to FanGraphs.

  • Royals' Raul Mondesi: Went hitless in his regular season debut

Mondesi went 0-for-3 in his MLB debut while batting ninth for the Royals on Tuesday night.

The Royals' offense has been pretty anemic this season (last in the AL in runs scored), so Mondesi's placement at the bottom of the order could be particularly problematic if he's unable to push his way to a more prominent spot in the coming weeks.

  • Royals' Raul Mondesi: Batting ninth in season debut Tuesday

Mondesi is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

The Royals' top prospect will make his season debut Tuesday as he'll take over at second base and bat ninth in the order against Tyler Skaggs and the Halos. Mondesi has progressed quickly through the minors for a 20-year-old, most recently recording a .304/.328/.536 slash line at Triple-A Omaha. He'll likely get plenty of chances for playing time at second base, but he can also play shortstop when Alcides Escobar needs an off-day.

  • Royals' Raul Mondesi: Gets called up Tuesday

Mondesi was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Mondesi, generally viewed as Kansas City's top prospect, had been on fire his past 10 games for Triple-A Omaha, batting .359 with eight runs, eight RBI and five steals. Soon to be 21 years old, he'll now be in line to make his major league (regular season) debut, which could come Tuesday against Tyler Skaggs and the Angels. Whit Merrifield was optioned in a corresponding roster move.

  • Shawn O'Malley SS | COL

Mariners' Shawn O'Malley: Gets day off Sunday

O'Malley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays.

With Ketel Marte dealing with a case of mononucleosis that resulted in his placement on the DL on Saturday, O'Malley has stepped in as the Mariners' primary shortstop. He's gone 4-for-17 with a pair of walks and a stolen base while starting each of the previous five games, but he'll get a day off in the series finale as manager Scott Servais gives Luis Sardinas a chance to make a spot start. O'Malley still figures to assume the bulk of the starts at shortstop until Marte returns.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Four hits in Saturday's loss

Bogaerts went 4-for-6 with a run scored in Saturday night's 11-9 loss to Minnesota.

Starter David Price and Boston's uber-shaky bullpen were the story in Saturday's loss, but the offense continues to chug along. Bogaerts has eight hits in the first three games of the series against the Twins and enters Sunday's contest with a .643 batting average (18-for-28) and 1.619 OPS in six games against Minnesota this season.

  • Shawn O'Malley SS | COL

Mariners' Shawn O'Malley: Has three-hit effort out of nine-hole Saturday

O'Malley went 3-for-5 with a run in Saturday's 14-5 victory over the Blue Jays.

The 28-year-old shortstop put together his second multi-hit effort of July and first since the second game of the month. O'Malley is receiving extended opportunity during Kete Marte's (illness) absence, and is slashing .241/.405/.276 in July.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Slugged his 15th homer of season Saturday

Correa went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs Saturday against the Angels.

Correa's 15th a big fly of the campaign helped extend the Astros lead to six runs in the fifth inning of a victory. He's now hit safely in seven of his last nine contests, and he's slashing .266/363/.470 on the year.

  • Luis Sardinas SS | WAS

Mariners' Luis Sardinas: Recalled from Tacoma

Sardinas was recalled on Friday from Triple-A Tacoma.

With Mike Montgomery now on the Chicago Cubs and Ketel Marte not making the trip to Toronto due to an illness, Sardinas was brought up prior to the Mariners' game Friday. At the time of his promotion, Sardinas was hitting .250/.291/.275 with Tacoma, and is 12-for-63 with two home runs and five RBI with the big league club this season. He will provide some added depth for the Mariners, and could get some time starting at short while Marte is out.

  • Royals' Raul Mondesi: Hitting .368 in last five games

Mondesi is hitting .368 with seven RBI and two walks, striking out five times, in his last five games.

After coming back from a PED suspension, Mondesi got off to a slow start but has heated up in the last week. With Alcides Escobar locking down the shortstop position in the majors, unless there's a big shakeup at the trade deadline, Mondesi likely won't see much playing time in Kansas City this year.
