Ruben Tejada must earn starting job upon return
Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada will have to earn the starting shortstop role back when he returns from injury, the New York Daily News reports. Tejada is expected to begin a rehab assignment this weekend.
"Based on what we’ve seen right now, Ruben’s gotta earn it back, he’s gotta go play, get his game together, get himself in really top shape, and we know he can, but there there is no reason why we’re gonna take this kid (Omar Quintanilla) out of the lineup unless it’s fatigue right now," Mets manager Terry Collins told the Daily News.
Tejada has been out since May 30 with a quad injury.
