Padres shortstop Pedro Ciriaco tripled and hit his second homer in a 6-3 win over the Dodgers Thursday night. He entered Thursday 5 for 13 with no extra-base hits, runs or RBI with the Padres, but went 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI.

Ciriaco is 7 for 17 as a Padre and will continue to play shortstop while Everth Cabrera is sidelined by injury.

Giants shorstop Brandon Crawford is available off the bench Thursday against the Marlins, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reports. Though Crawford was out of the starting lineup for the second straight day, his sprained fingers have improved.

Crawford has improved offensively over the last two weeks, hitting .316/.386/.368 in 38 at-bats. He has hit .288/.351/.424 in 243 at-bats in 2013.

Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada is not progressing as the team hoped from his right quadriceps strain, according to ESPN.com Wednesday.

Tejada has been unable to move laterally in the field while working out at the team's spring training complex, and has been unable to progress beyond hitting off a tee so far.

There is still no concrete timetable for his return to the field. Tejada has been out since May 30 due to this injury.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford is expected to miss Wednesday's game against San Diego due to a sprained index and middle finger on his right hand, CSN San Francisco reports.

Crawford was unabled to grip a ball following the injury. The shortstop may be able to return Thursday in the series opener against Miami. Consider him day to day for now.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Padres in the fourth inning, after suffering two sprained fingers on his right hand. Crawford suffered the injuries while sliding into second base in the second inning.

Crawford is currently being considered day to day, and the extent of the injury is not yet known. 

Padres infielder Pedro Ciriaco tied a season-high with three hits Monday against the Giants. Ciriaco is batting .333 (3 for 9) in three games since joining the Padres.

Ciriaco also had three hits May 25 against the Indians when he was on the Red Sox roster.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford was moved into the third spot in the lineup Monday against the Padres for the first time this season, finishing 1 for 6 with one run and one strikeout. 

Manager Bruce Bochy was asked before the game why he used Crawford there.

"Crawford asked me the same thing," Bochy said. "I just said, 'Maybe I got into the wine too much last night.'"

Crawford is batting .314 (11 for 35) with two doubles, three RBI, three walks and five runs in his last nine games. He's batting .285 and slugging .421 through 68 games.

Diamondbacks infielder Cliff Pennington is not in the team's starting lineup Monday against the Marlins. 

Pennington will be replaced by second baseman Willie Bloomquist, who will hit second. Pennington is hitting .239/.312/.310 in 155 at-bats. 

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford had his modest hitting streak end at five games following a 0-for-4 performance Sunday against the Braves. However, he's hit safely in six of his last eight games, batting .345 (10 for 29) with two doubles and three RBI.

Crawford is batting .306 (15 for 49) in 14 June games. Unfortunately, he has just three RBI in his last 18 games and he hasn't homered since April 27. His home run drought has spanned 43 games.
