  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Rehabbing in Arizona

McLain (oblique) has begun rehab work at the Reds' spring training complex in Arizona, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

McLain wound up missing the final month-plus of the season with an oblique injury, which he aggravated in late September. He's on the mend now, though, and should be healed up well ahead of spring training. McLain is in line to hold down a starting spot in the Reds' infield in 2024, with the position yet to be determined.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Elbow surgery to remove bone spur

Lindor underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Per Andy Martino of SNY.tv, Lindor first began feeling the effects of the injury during spring training and played through some discomfort all season. He is expected to be fully ready for the beginning of spring training. The veteran shortstop had his first-ever 30-30 season in 2023, hitting 31 home runs and stealing 31 bases while slashing .254/.336/.470.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Returns to lineup

Rojas is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Saturday against Arizona in Game 1 of the NLDS, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rojas missed the Dodgers' final two regular-season games after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. He was given extra time to recover thanks to the team's first-round bye, and he'll return in time for the start of Los Angeles' playoff run. The 34-year-old is slashing .300/.338/.429 with two homers and seven RBI in 24 contests since Sept. 1.

  • Vaughn Grissom 2B | LAA

Braves' Vaughn Grissom: Will be on NLDS roster

Grissom will be part of Atlanta's roster for the NLDS against the Phillies, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Grissom posted a weak .659 OPS over 80 major-league plate appearances during the regular season, but he had a .921 OPS in 468 plate appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett. The talented 22-year-old infielder can function as a useful pinch runner, bench bat and possible defensive replacement in Atlanta's best-of-five NLDS matchup versus Philadelphia.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Making progress with hand/wrist

Rojas (hand/wrist) is playing in an intrasquad game Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Rojas missed the final two games of the regular season after taking a pitch off his left hand/wrist last Friday in San Francisco, but the Dodgers are off until Game 1 of the NLDS this Saturday and the veteran shortstop should be ready to rock. Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez filled in at short in his absence.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: At shortstop again in Game 2

Berti will again start at shortstop and bat eighth Wednesday in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Phillies.

Berti started at short in Game 1 on Tuesday and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in what was a 4-1 loss, but the Marlins will continue to roll with the 33-year-old speedster. Garrett Hampson and Joey Wendle are again riding the pine.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Steals two bags in win

Turner went 2-for-3 with one walk and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Marlins in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series.

Turner entered the contest with 30 stolen bases across 155 games in the regular season and Tuesday marked his sixth multi-steal game since the start of the campaign. Turner is now a career 8-for-8 on stolen-base attempts during the postseason while mustering a .245/.289/.346 slash line with three home runs, eight RBI and 23 runs across 44 playoff contests.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Back in lineup for Game 1

Turner (elbow) is back in the lineup for Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series on Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Turner will start at shortstop and bat second against the Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. He sat out of Sunday's regular-season finale after taking a pitch off his left elbow Saturday, but there was never much concern about his readiness for Philly's best-of-three series versus Miami.

  • Marlins' Garrett Hampson: On bench for Game 1

Hampson is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's NL Wild Card Series Game 1 against the Phillies.

Jon Berti will start at shortstop and bat eighth with Joey Wendle joining Hampson on the bench. Hampson drew steady action at shortstop over the final few weeks of the regular season, but it seems he's being viewed as a super-utility option off the bench in Miami's best-of-three series at Philadelphia.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Starts at shortstop in Game 1

Berti is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Phillies.

Garrett Hampson drew the majority of starts at shortstop in the closing weeks of the 2023 regular season, but the Marlins will ride the hot hand with Berti after he slashed .500/.609/.944 with four homers and two steals across his final 46 plate appearances of the regular season. Hampson is on the bench in Game 1, with Luis Arraez (ankle) returning at second base and Jake Burger manning third base. Joey Wendle will also ride the pine.
