  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Not in lineup Wednesday

Bogaerts is absent from the lineup Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

Ha-Seong Kim will play shortstop and bat leadoff as Matthew Batten handles second base and hits eighth. This appears to be a routine day off for Bogaerts, who has slashed .439/.489/.805 in 45 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to September.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: On bench Wednesday

Wendle is not in the lineup Wednesday at Milwaukee.

Garrett Hampson will start at shortstop and bat seventh as the Marlins take on right-hander Trevor Megill and a parade of Brewers relievers. Wendle owns a brutal .224/.259/.325 slash line through 102 games (297 plate appearances) this season.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Out of lineup Wednesday

Edman is absent from the lineup Wednesday at Baltimore.

Richie Palacios is playing second base and Lars Nootbaar will patrol center field. Edman has gone 0-for-13 with four strikeouts over his last three games.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Takes seat Wednesday

Perdomo is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets.

Jordan Lawlar will start at shortstop and Emmanuel Rivera (shoulder) is back in action at third base. Perdomo has batted just .115 with a .439 OPS in 35 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to September.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: On bench Wednesday

Williams is absent from the lineup Wednesday versus the Nationals.

Liover Peguero will start at shortstop and bat seventh as Jared Triolo handles second base and hits ninth. Williams, 24, has slashed just .217/.294/.272 through his first 103 major-league plate appearances this season with the Pirates.

  • Marco Luciano SS | NYY

Giants' Marco Luciano: Returns to Triple-A lineup

Luciano (hamstring) was reinstated from Triple-A Sacramento's 7-day injured list and went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in his return to the lineup in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to Sugar Land.

Luciano ended up missing just under a month due to a hamstring strain, but he showed some rust in his return to the Triple-A lineup, donning the Golden Sombrero for the third time this season. The 22-year-old infielder will look to finish the Triple-A season on a high note and could still have a chance to join the big club before the MLB campaign comes to a close.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Getting day off Wednesday

De La Cruz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Tigers.

De La Cruz is sporting a .459 OPS with no home runs over his last 19 games, so it's probably not a bad time for him to recharge his battery. Noelvi Marte will play shortstop Wednesday.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Out against southpaw

Crawford is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

He'll yield to Paul DeJong at shortstop versus a lefty, as Crawford often does. Crawford has been helpless versus both righties (.584 OPS) and lefties (.589 OPS) this season.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Stays red hot

Turner went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Atlanta.

The 30-year-old continued his torrid play Tuesday, swiping his 27th base and launching his 26th homer -- a game-tying solo shot in the ninth inning off Atlanta closer Raisel Iglesias. Turner has been a hit machine lately, recording multi-hit efforts in 12 of his last 15 games, including four straight. In 34 games since Aug. 4, the five-tool shortstop has posted a slash line of .388/.430/.820 with an incredible 16 home runs, 10 doubles, one triple, 41 RBI, 34 runs and six steals across 151 plate appearances. Turner's batting average has risen from a paltry .236 to a respectable .272 during that same time frame.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Triples, scores twice Tuesday

Swanson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rockies.

Swanson delivered his fourth straight multi-hit effort and also tallied just his third triple of the season. The shortstop is heating up at the right time as the Cubs look to chase down a playoff spot. Swanson is batting .327 this month with nine runs scored in 13 games.
