  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Heads to bench Monday

Perdomo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Even though the Diamondbacks recently released short-side platoon mate Nick Ahmed, Perdomo still looks as though he'll frequently hit the bench when Arizona faces southpaws. With lefty Jose Quintana on the hill for the Mets, the switch-hitting Perdomo will give way to the righty-hitting Emmanuel Rivera at third base.

  • Jordan Lawlar SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Checks back into lineup

Lawlar (hand) will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Mets.

Arizona will get both of its starting middle infielders back for the series opener at Citi Field after both Lawlar and second baseman Ketel Marte (knee) exited the lineup for Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Cubs. Lawlae, the Diamondbacks' top prospect, has gotten off to a slow start since being called up from Triple-A Reno last week, going 1-for-11 with no walks and six strikeouts.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Returns after one-game absence

Abrams (knee) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Monday versus the Pirates in his return to the lineup, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Abrams missed Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Dodgers after banging his knee Saturday, but he needed just one day off to move past the injury. The young infielder has a .719 OPS with 16 home runs and 41 stolen bases this season.

  • Vaughn Grissom 2B | LAA

Braves' Vaughn Grissom: Lands on Triple-A injured list

Triple-A Gwinnett placed Grissom on its 7-day injured list Tuesday with a right hip injury, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

With the big-league active roster expanding to 28 men in September, Grissom would have been a candidate to return to Atlanta at some point during the final month of the season, but the hip injury could end up thwarting those plans. After a promising showing in his first taste of the majors in the second half of last season, Grissom missed out on a spot on Atlanta's Opening Day roster and has logged just 80 plate appearances in the big leagues in 2023.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Tallies four hits Sunday

Rojas went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Nationals.

Rojas now has seven hits over his last four games and has started five of the last games at shortstop despite the Dodgers making trading for Amed Rosario before the deadline. Rojas hadn't had more than two hits in a game all year but has seemed to turn a corner in September, and is slashing .367/.387/.467 over nine games this month.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Leads team to win Sunday

Swanson went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Swanson hit a solo home run in the third inning, giving him 20 long balls for the third straight season. The shortstop added an RBI single in the fifth for good measure. While he's not been quite as productive as he was with Atlanta last year, Swanson has still been pretty good in his first season in Chicago. He should remain a key player for the Cubs down the stretch as they look to lock up a playoff spot.

  • Jordan Lawlar SS | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Sitting Sunday

Lawlar (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

The rookie shortstop exited Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch on his right hand, though according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, manager Torey Luvollo said Lawlar's hand is fine and he's simply receiving a day off. Geraldo Perdomo will shift to shortstop while Emmanuel Rivera starts at the hot corner.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: On bench again Sunday

Williams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Williams is 3-for-16 with five strikeouts over his past eight contests and will hit the bench Sunday for the second consecutive game. Liover Peguero will receive another start at shortstop while Ji Hwan Bae mans the keystone.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Managing knee issue

Abrams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers due to a knee injury, though manager Dave Martinez said the shortstop should be available off the bench, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.comreports.

The 22-year-old apparently banged his knee on a slide during Saturday's contest and will sit out Sunday's series finale, though Marinez expects Abrams to be back in the lineup Monday in Pittsburgh. Ildemaro Vargas will take over at shortstop and bat fifth.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Ties career-high mark in steals

Bogaerts went 1-for-5 with a double and a stolen base in a loss to Houston on Saturday.

Bogaerts put himself in position to score with a double and steal in the second inning, but the Padres stranded him at third. The theft was his 15th of the campaign, tying his career-best mark established in 2017 with Boston. Bogaerts' double also extended his hitting streak to eight games, during which he is slashing .469/.500/.813 with two homers, four RBI, 10 runs and two steals.
