  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: MRI results reassuring

Mets manager Buck Showalter said Saturday that Lindor's (side) MRI returned "pretty good news," Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Lindor has already been left out of the Mets' lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, but Showalter noted the shortstop could still be available for the nightcap. Lindor is slashing .270/.375/.427 with three homers and nine RBI since the All-Star break.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Absent from lineup

Lindor (side) will sit for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta.

Lindor's absence is no surprise, as he's set to undergo an MRI on Saturday after being scratched Friday with soreness in his right side. The results of that MRI have yet to be released, so it's unclear whether a return for the nightcap is in play. Jonathan Arauz remains the starting shortstop in his absence.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: On bench for afternoon game

Arcia will sit for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Arcia is the only Atlanta hitter who will get a rest in the first game of the day. He'll likely return to the lineup for the nightcap, but in the meantime, Nicky Lopez will handle shortstop.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Dropped in order, produces

De La Cruz batted third and went 2-for-5 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-2 win over the Pirates

For the first time since July 16, De La Cruz was not batting leadoff for the Reds. He'd slashed .207/.281/.414 in 22 games (21 starts) atop the order. In his first game out of three hole, De La Cruz delivered a two-run triple in the first inning and knocked in a run in the eighth. Reds manager David Bell told Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer that he plans to stick with the reconfigured top of the order, although he added that "nothing's permanent." TJ Friedl led off Friday followed by Matt McLain.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep, swipes bag

Bogaerts went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and one stolen base in Friday's win over Arizona.

Bogaerts started his big day with a two-run shot in the second inning. It was his 12th homer of the year and first since July 18, snapping a 21-game drought. During that stretch, he hit .293 but registered a lackluster .659 OPS. Bogaerts is now slashing .271/.344/.402 with 31 extra-base hits and 13 steals through 471 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Set for MRI on sore side

Lindor will undergo an MRI on Saturday after being scratched from Friday's lineup against Atlanta with right side soreness, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Lindor had played every game so far this season until Friday's scratch. Whether he will require a stint on the injured list will be determined after the imaging is done, but any sort of side injury has the possibility of causing a multi-week absence. Jonathan Arauz is covering shortstop in Lindor's absence Friday.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Sitting Friday

Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup Friday against the Padres.

After going 1-for-3 with a double Wednesday against the Dodgers, Perdomo will take a seat for Friday's series opener against San Diego. Nick Ahmed will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Perdomo's place.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Scratched Friday

Lindor was scratched from the Mets' lineup ahead of Friday's game against Atlanta, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

There is no word yet on why Lindor was taken out of New York's lineup, but the Mets should provide an explanation relatively soon. Lindor is slashing .375/.459/.531 since the beginning of August, and Friday will mark the first time he's missed a game all season. Jonathan Arauz will fill in at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Goes yard Thursday

Turner went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 6-2 victory over the Nationals.

The 30-year-old shortstop belted a two-run homer off Andres Machado in the sixth inning, giving Philadelphia a 2-1 lead. Turner has now hit safely in seven consecutive contests, batting .370 (10-for-27) with two home runs, eight RBI and a steal during that span.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Nabs 28th steal

Abrams went 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Phillies.

The 22-year-old speedster swiped second base after a single in the third inning and added a double off Craig Kimbrel in the ninth. Abrams has been impressive since the start of July, slashing .314/.362/.489 with four homers, 11 RBI, 27 runs scored and 19 steals across 151 plate appearances in that span.
