Dodgers' Trea Turner: Hit streak comes to end

Turner went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Saturday in a loss to the Mets.

Turner entered the contest having notched at least one hit in 26 straight contests, but he was unable to extend that streak Saturday. The shortstop was on deck with two outs in the ninth inning but was unable to get a fifth at-bat when Freddie Freeman grounded out to end the game. During the streak -- the longest in the majors this season -- Turner slashed .350/.404/.573 with four homers, 22 RBI, 14 runs and six stolen bases.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Out of Sunday's lineup

Crawford is not in Sunday's lineup against the Marlins.

Crawford is hitting .242 with one home run and zero steals over his last 10 games. Donovan Walton will start at shortstop and hit ninth.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Swats fifth homer

Edman went 2-for-7 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored across both games of Saturday's doubleheader split with the Cubs.

He took Matt Swarmer deep in the sixth inning for the Cardinals' only run of the matinee before reaching base three times in the nightcap. The homer was Edman's first since May 14 and fifth of the season, but power isn't his biggest asset -- he's slashing .281/.357/.424 through 53 games with 14 steals, 23 RBI and 43 runs.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Holds down shortstop

Perdomo went 1-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh.

Perdomo, who is getting the bulk of time at shortstop with Nick Ahmed (illness) on the injured list, will continue to hold down the position for an undetermined amount of time. The Diamondbacks announced Ahmed, who had been rehabbing from COVID-19, will be shut down due to shoulder soreness. Perdomo is slashing .210/.300/.274 over 19 games since Ahmed was added to the injured list May 16.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Expected to return Tuesday

Adames (ankle/quadriceps) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's series opener against the Phillies, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Adames concluded his rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Friday and is expected to rejoin the Brewers on Saturday. However, manager Craig Counsell said that the shortstop isn't expected to be activated until Tuesday. The 26-year-old hasn't played for Milwaukee since May 15 due to a left ankle sprain, and he faced a minor setback in his rehab process due to quad soreness. However, he should reclaim his job as the Brewers' everyday shortstop once he's officially activated.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Two steals Friday

Edman went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs scored in Friday's 14-5 win over the Cubs.

Edman has posted four stolen bases in his last five games. The infielder is up to 14 steals in 15 tries this season while adding a sturdy .281/.353/.413 slash line, four home runs, 22 RBI and 41 runs scored through 51 contests.

  • Diego Castillo 3B | MIN

Pirates' Diego Castillo: Not in Saturday's lineup

Castillo isn't starting Saturday against Arizona.

Castillo started in the last five games but went just 1-for-16 with a run, three walks and seven strikeouts. Rodolfo Castro will shift to shortstop while Tucupita Marcano starts at second base.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Grand slam in slugfest

Crawford went 1-for-5 with a grand slam and an additional RBI in Friday's 15-6 win over the Marlins.

Crawford opened the scoring with an RBI on a groundout in the first inning. He then finished off the Giants' run production with his seventh-inning grand slam, which was his first home run since May 23. The shortstop had gone 0-for-11 in his last four contests before sitting out due to an illness Thursday. For the season, he's slashing .215/.301/.343 with five homers, 24 RBI, 23 runs scored, a stolen base, five doubles and a triple in 47 games.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Playing through finger injury

Lindor (finger) is starting at shortstop and batting third Friday against the Dodgers.

Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Lindor has a small fracture in his finger but it's something he can play through once the swelling went down. Even so, it's a little surprising he isn't in as the designated hitter, but perhaps that's a testament to how minor the fracture is.
