Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Suffers head injury
Berti suffered a laceration to the back of his head that required three stitches, and he was also diagnosed with a concussion Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Berti was hit in the back of the head by an errant pitch from Austin Adams in the seventh inning. He exited the game under his own power but will likely be forced to miss further game action. Joe Panik figures to pick up most of the starts at third base in Berti's absence.

Paul DeJong SS | NYY
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: On bench Thursday
DeJong isn't starting Thursday's game against the Cubs, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
DeJong had crossed the plate in each of the last four games, and he went 2-for-13 with a homer, five runs and two RBI during that time. Edmundo Sosa will take over at shortstop and bat eighth.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Doubles twice, steals base in win
Ahmed went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-4 win over Pittsburgh.
Ahmed provided a game-tying RBI double and stole third. Wednesday's performance was the shortstop's third game with three or more hits this year. He's now 6-for-8 in stolen base attempts while adding two home runs, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, 18 doubles and a .224/.290/.327 slash line across 298 plate appearances.

Oneil Cruz SS | PIT
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Still experiencing symptoms
Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Cruz (forearm) is still experiencing mild symptoms, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Cruz has rejoined Double-A Altoona to continue his recovery process, but the team continues to bring him along slowly to prevent a setback. However, Tomczyk said that the 22-year-old will require rest and time before he's cleared to return, and surgery isn't currently an option being considered, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. A better timetable for his return could be revealed once he's cleared to ramp up his workload.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Nationals' Trea Turner: Extends hitting streak
Turner went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Marlins.
The slick-fielding shortstop continues to make an impact offensively and pushed his hitting streak to five games with his second straight two-hit performance. Turner has hit safely in all but one of his last 10 games, with five multi-hit contests in that span as well. He is hitting .333 with a 1.020 OPS across 55 plate appearances this month.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Contributes across box score in win
Baez went 2-for-5 with two RBI, a steal and a run scored Tuesday against the Cardinals.
Baez had a quiet start to the contest, but he hit a leadoff single in the sixth inning and then stole second base. He also contributed to the Cubs' six-run rally in the ninth inning, providing a two-run single to bring the team within one and eventually coming around to score the game-winning run. For the season, Baez is hitting .244/.287/.486 with 21 home runs, 45 runs scored, 61 RBI and 13 stolen bases. He's 7-for-21 with five RBI in five games since the All-Star break.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Smacks sixth homer
Edman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Cubs.
Edman took Rex Brothers deep in the sixth inning to record his sixth homer of the season. After failing to go yard for 39 games between May 27 and July 9, Edman now has two home runs in his last six contests. Still, Edman's primary contributions come on the basepaths, as he has 16 stolen bases and 49 runs scored across 402 plate appearances on the campaign.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: No activation date set
Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Seager (hand) "feels good" but remains without a set date to be activated from the injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Roberts indicated Monday that the star shortstop could be activated as early as Wednesday, but it doesn't appear that's going to come to fruition. Seager figures to continue ramping up in simulated games until he's cleared to rejoin the active roster.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Not starting Tuesday
Berti will be on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Berti's eight steals have provided at least a bit of value to fantasy teams, but that's about all he's been good for this season, as he's homered just four times while hitting .215/.309/.320. Given that he's already on the wrong side of 30, it's possible he falls behind the Marlins' younger options down the stretch, as the team is already all but out of the playoff picture. Joe Panik, who's less than a year younger than Berti, will start at the hot corner on this occasion.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Rockies' Chris Owings: Heads to IL with thumb injury
Owings was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a mallet finger of the left thumb.
Owings last played Sunday, though it's not clear when or how the injury was suffered. The utility man will become eligible to be reinstated July 29, but it's possible he'll require additional time to recover. Connor Joe was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding roster move.
