Castro is hitting .407 with 11 RBI and 17 runs scored for Triple-A Albuquerque heading into May.

The utility man is also in the midst of a 22-game hit streak for the Isotopes. Castro nearly broke camp with the Rockies out of spring training, but Pat Valaika managed to get healthy enough to play just before the start of the regular season. However, with Valaika hitting just .096 thus far, Castro has put him in the conversation for a callup. Valaika is entrenched as the primary second baseman while DJ LeMahieu (hamstring) is out, but Castro is making his case to be back in the majors.

O'Malley (hand) is 3-for-11 in three games since returning from the disabled list for Triple-A Albuquerque.

The utility man was sidelined with a broken hand since spring training, but he was able to return to action with the Isotopes over the weekend after rehabbing at extended spring training to start the season. O'Malley has a unique profile as a switch hitter who can play both on the infield and the outfield, but his .231 career batting average in the majors suggests he's destined for an organizational depth role.

Ahmed went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, two RBI and two runs in the Diamondbacks' 8-5 win over the Dodgers on Monday.

Ahmed finished a triple shy of the cycle in his third consecutive multi-hit effort, with the shortstop tallying four extra-base knocks over that span. Considering his poor offensive reputation entering the season, Ahmed has been one of the most surprising performers for the 20-8 Diamondbacks, with his unexpected surge in the power department helping to anchor the back half of the lineup. His slugging percentage now sits at a robust .524, more than 100 points better than his 2017 mark.

Turner went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's win over the Pirates.

It was his fourth multi-hit performance in the last week, and Turner now boasts a .284/.381/.379 slash line through 29 games. He only has one homer and seven RBI over that span, but 14 runs and 12 steals in 12 attempts. The 24-year-old's power numbers are down, but his current 39.1 percent hard-hit rate would be a career high, so don't be surprised if the home runs come over the summer.

Seager (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Friday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

After undergoing Tommy John surgery, Seager will begin a lengthy rehab process. Per Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are hoping that Seager will be in full health by Opening Day for the 2019 season. With Seager out for the rest of the year, Chris Taylor will move from center field to shortstop.

Seager was diagnosed with a sprained UCL on Monday. He will undergo Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

This is an absolutely brutal blow for the Dodgers and Seager, who was placed on the disabled list Monday as a result of the injury. He dealt with an elbow injury towards the end of last season but ultimately opted to forgo offseason surgery. The issue stuck with him at the start of spring training, but it was thought to be behind him heading into the season before the ailment ultimately proved bothersome enough to require the season-ending procedure. Seager was hitting .267/.348/.396 with two homers through 26 games before his season came to an end. Chris Taylor is starting at shortstop in his stead Monday and will likely stick there for the remainder of the season.

Crawford is out of the lineup Monday against the Padres.

Crawford's tough stretch at the plate continued Sunday as he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Over the last seven games he's gone 3-for-24 (.125) with six strikeouts. He'll get the night off while Kelby Tomlinson starts at shortstop.

Seager is not on the lineup card for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Chris Taylor is starting at shortstop in his place, while Breyvic Valera is with the team. There has been no indication that Seager is dealing with any type of injury at this point, but his absence from the lineup card hints at a roster move, which could ultimately mean a DL stint for the shortstop.

Ahmed went 3-for-4 with a double in the Diamondbacks' 3-1 loss to the Nationals on Sunday.

With the lefty-hitting Jarrod Dyson receiving the day off against Nationals southpaw Gio Gonzalez, Ahmed moved into the two hole and was Arizona's most productive batter Sunday, finishing with his third three-hit performance of the season. Ahmed is expected to plummet to the bottom half of the order Monday with the Dodgers bringing righty Ross Stripling to the hill, but the shortstop should still make for a decent option in NL-only formats during the upcoming week while he continues to hold down a full-time role. Ahmed is hitting just .241 on the season but owns a respectable .794 OPS, 77 points greater than the career-best mark he posted in 2017.

Crawford was diagnosed with a Grade 1 flexor pronator strain Sunday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The current expectation is that Crawford will miss approximately two weeks to the injury, although a more definitive timeframe should become available as his rehab progresses. Until Crawford returns to full health, Scott Kingery will likely see the bulk of the time at shortstop.
