Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Injures shoulder Monday
Rojas injured his shoulder during Monday's game against the Rangers, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Rojas suffered the injury while diving for a ball in the sixth inning, but he was able to stay in for the remainder of the game. The shortstop will see a doctor Tuesday to determine the severity of his injury. He'll be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Staking claim to shortstop job
DeJong, who went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs, is staking a claim to the everyday shortstop job previously held by Aledmys Diaz, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. "The way he's going about it defensively, it's hard to see him being anywhere else right now," manager Mike Matheny said. "And you mix in the offense and what he's capable of doing, that really puts him as a pretty special shortstop."
Last season, Diaz was the rookie that swooped in and displaced veteran Jhonny Peralta during the latter's absence in the early going of the campaign. Through his impressive play and Diaz's own struggles, DeJong may have already done the same. Factoring in Sunday's production, the rookie's season line stands at .284/.299/.574, and his 25 extra-base hits in 46 games heading into the contest had already tied him for first in that category in franchise history with Albert Pujols. DeJong's 15 extra-base hits in July are tops in the National League as well, and he's also been an asset defensively, posting a plus-5 in Defensive Runs Saved. With Diaz continuing to scuffle at the plate with Triple-A Memphis, it appears increasingly likely that DeJong's major-league audition will continue through the balance of 2017.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Contributes two-run homer in 13-3 win
Story went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk and another run scored Sunday against the Pirates.
Story's home run was one of five mashed by the home team in this 13-3 blowout. The 24-year-old shortstop has hit 23 of his 40 career homers at Coors Field, which is actually a pretty even split compared to most of his teammates in Colorado.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Nationals' Trea Turner: Another X-ray on tap
Turner (wrist) will undergo follow-up X-rays in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo indicated Sunday that Turner has progressed from the fractured right wrist as anticipated, but the team won't have a clearer idea of the extent of his healing until the results of the X-rays are made available. Turner has yet to resume baseball activities and remains without a firm timetable for a return.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Takes seat Sunday
Swanson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
Swanson was recently relegated to a part-time role, and that decision will show up in practice Sunday with Brandon Phillips (hamstring) returning to the lineup. Johan Camargo, who had been filling in for Phillips, will get the nod at shortstop.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Seeing regular reps at shorstop
Rojas will start at shortstop and bat eighth Sunday against the Reds, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
It was expected that Rojas would serve as a utility infielder for the Marlins when he was activated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, but he's instead stepped into an everyday role at shortstop, displacing J.T. Riddle. Rojas will draw his fourth consecutive start Sunday after compiling three hits in 11 at-bats over the prior three contests. The 28-year-old owns an unremarkable .250/.299/.316 batting line for his career, so expectations should be tempered while he continues to see regular starts.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Continues second-half power surge
Seager's only hit in four at-bats Saturday was a solo home run in a 6-2 victory over the Braves.
The 23-year-old saw his modest 10-game hitting streak come to an end Friday, but he rewarded his fantasy owners with his third homer in eight games since the All-Star break. Possibly lost in the hubbub surrounding Cody Bellinger's breakout campaign, Seager has quietly been producing another stellar fantasy season with 16 homers, 50 RBI and a .907 on-base plus slugging percentage through 89 games.

Allen Cordoba SS | CIN
Padres' Allen Cordoba: Wears golden sombrero Saturday
Cordoba started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Giants.
With Erick Aybar (foot) being placed on the disabled list, Cordoba was the only shortstop left on the roster. He did not take advantage of the opportunity, turning in one of the worst stat lines a major leaguer could imagine. The 21-year-old has flashed some potential in spurts this season, but his overall slash line of .231/.289/.320 in 187 plate appearances leaves much to be desired. Despite Saturday's rough go of things, Cordoba should continue to see starts until either Aybar returns or another shortstop is called up from the minors.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Swipes two bags Saturday
Gordon went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and a run during Saturday's win over Cincinnati.
Gordon is now up to 34 stolen bases for the year, and his .290 batting average and 58 runs are also excellent marks. He offers nothing in the power categories, but that was also never an advertised asset.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Will continue working exclusively at shortstop
Diaz, who went 2-for-4 in his return during Triple-A Memphis' win over Las Vegas on Friday, will continue working exclusively at shortstop for the time being, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
There's been some talk of a potential future utility role for Diaz, but general manager John Mozeliak has made it clear that he'll remain at his natural position for now. The Cuban shortstop was sent down to Memphis unexpectedly in late June to refine his plate mechanics and is slashing .240/.250/.360 over 12 games with the Redbirds.
