Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon is making progress in his recovery from a dislocated thumb. Gordon is expected to take batting practice at the club's spring training facility in Jupiter, Fla. by the end of the week.

Gordon was placed on the disabled list last Friday after suffering the injury just before the All-Star break. There is currently no timetable for his return, though manager Dan Jennings did not rule out a return when first eligible on Monday, according to MLB.com.

The power of Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has been a surprise this season, but he had yet to hit home runs in back-to-back games.

That is, until Wednesday.

Crawford launched a second homer in two days, a solo job in the eighth inning to give him 14 on the year and aid in a defeat of San Diego. He now owns a slugging percentage of .477.

Marlins infielder Miguel Rojas was not in Monday's lineup at Arizona, reports MLB Daily Lineups.

Rojas left Sunday's loss to the Phillies with an illness. He is hitting .200 in 25 at-bats this season.

In Sunday's marathon of a game against the Cardinals, Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada went 3 for 6 with a double, two walks and a RBI.

With the three-hit outing, Tejada extended his current hit streak to seven games. Over that stretch, he is hitting .367 with 11 hits, two doubles, a home run and four RBI.

Marlins second baseman Miguel Rojas left Sunday's game against the Phillies due to stomach nausea. He is listed as day to day.

Rojas went 2 for 3 with one RBI before leaving Sunday's game.

Diamondbacks shortstop Cliff Pennington hit a solo home run during a pinch-hit opportunity in Saturday's loss to the Giants.

Pennington is hitting .411 with seven hits, a home run and five RBI over his last 17 at-bats.

Diamondbacks second baseman Chris Owings hit his third home run of the season during Friday's 6-5 loss to the Giants.

Owings hit the solo shot off Matt Cain in the fourth inning. He finished the game 2 for 5 with one RBI. Owings is hitting .231 with one home run and two RBI in his last 12 games.

The Marlins placed second baseman Dee Gordon on the 15-day disabled list Friday, reports MLB.com.

The move was made retroactive to July 12. Gordon is suffering from a dislocated left thumb. He is hitting .338 with 33 stolen bases in 84 games this season.
