  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Scratched Wednesday

Crawford (quadriceps) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Crawford was in the lineup for Wednesday's contest despite leaving Tuesday's game with right quadriceps tightness, and he was scratched after going through a pre-game workout. Wilmer Flores will enter the lineup in his place while Donovan Walton shifts to shortstop.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Good to go Wednesday

Bogaerts (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and batting cleanup Wednesday against the Angels, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

The 29-year-old was pulled from Tuesday's contest with left shoulder tightness, but it's apparently not a serious concern since he's back in the lineup Wednesday. Bogaerts is off to a hot start in June with a .945 OPS, one home run, two doubles, four RBI and six runs through six games.

  • Angels' Andrew Velazquez: Not starting Wednesday

Velazquez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Boston.

Velazquez is hitless in his past 19 at-bats and will head to the bench Wednesday. Tyler Wade will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: In Wednesday's lineup

Crawford (quadriceps) is starting at shortstop and batting fifth Wednesday against the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford exited Tuesday's contest with tightness in his right quadriceps, but it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. The 35-year-old has gone 3-for-14 with a home run, a triple, a double, and five RBI through five games in June.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Diamondbacks transferred Ahmed to the 60-day injured list Wednesday while he contends with right shoulder inflammation.

Ahmed was initially deactivated May 17 without the Diamondbacks applying an injury designation, an indication that he was out for COVID-19-related protocols. He resumed baseball activities just over a week later, but he was recently shut down after experiencing renewed discomfort in his shoulder. Ahmed opened the season on the IL on account of a shoulder problem and dealt with the issue late in 2021, so the Diamondbacks may have decided a prolonged shutdown was the best option to allow the inflammation to subside. Geraldo Perdomo now appears poised to serve as Arizona's everyday shortstop through the All-Star break while Ahmed is on the shelf.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Brewers' Pablo Reyes: Moves down to minors

The Brewers optioned Reyes to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Reyes went 4-for-14 with a walk and a run scored in his four games with the Brewers following his call-up from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. He'll end up moving back to the minors now that everyday shortstop Willy Adames (ankle) has been cleared to return from the 10-day injured list.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Makes return from IL

The Brewers reinstated Adames (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. He'll start at shortstop and bat second in the Brewers' game against the Phillies.

Milwaukee optioned utility man Pablo Reyes to Triple-A Nashville to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Adames, who had been sidelined since mid-May with a left high-ankle sprain. Adames checked out fine following a recent three-game rehab assignment at Nashville, so he'll be in the clear to reclaim an everyday role at shortstop. Luis Urias is expected to slide back over to third base as a result, while Jace Peterson will transition into a utility gig.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Activated from IL

Correa (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday.

Correa tested positive for COVID-19 in late May, but he worked out at Target Field on Tuesday and will serve as the designated hitter while batting second in his return to the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees. Over his 11 games last month between IL stints, the 27-year-old hit .326 with a home run, four doubles, five runs and five RBI.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Continues running hot at plate

Crawford went 2-for-4 with a run in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

The veteran shortstop pushed his season slash line to an impressive, career-best .292/.381/.438 with his fourth multi-hit effort in the last 13 games. Factoring in Tuesday's tally, Crawford boasts a .313 average, .848 OPS and outstanding 1.33 BB/K during that sample of 56 plate appearances.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

    Athletics' Kevin Smith: Sitting Wednesday

Smith is not in the lineup Wednesday against Atlanta.

Smith will sit out a second consecutive game Wednesday as Matt Davidson will draw another start at third base and bat eighth. It's possible that Davidson will get the lion's share of starts at the hot corner for the time being.
