Baez is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Baez, who started the last 12 games and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts during Game 1, will take a seat for the nightcap. Nico Hoerner will step in at shortstop in Game 2.

Diaz (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday and will be available for the Astros' doubleheader against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Diaz suffered a right groin strain on Opening Day and is finally back after missing over a month due to the injury. He figures to be Jose Altuve's backup at second base but could also see some time at third base while Alex Bregman (hamstring) is on the injured list.

Garcia isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

Garcia will take a seat for Game 1 of Saturday's twin bill after going 1-for-4 on Friday. Freddy Galvis will start at shortstop.

Swanson went 0-for-5 with a stolen base in a 7-4 loss to the Phillies on Friday.

Swanson struck out twice and ended an 11-game hitting streak Friday. Despite the rough day, he's still hitting .306/.338/.822 with four home runs and 18 RBI, and he and Ronald Acuna are a nice 1-2 punch atop the Atlanta batting order.

Turner went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI in Friday's 10-2 win over the Red Sox.

He got the Nats' offensive eruption started with a two-run double in the third inning, extending his hitting streak to 13 games in the process. The streak has pushed Turner's slash line on the season up to .322/.388/.583, but if there were a blemish on his performance Friday, it's that he was caught stealing for the fourth time in seven attempts this year -- curiously poor numbers after he went 35-for-40 in 2019.

Mondesi went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and eight men left on base in Friday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox.

His whiff with runners on second and third and nobody out in the second inning set the tone for his evening, and Mondesi's inability to make any kind of solid contact cost the Royals dearly in the end. The shortstop's speed still gives him fantasy value as long as he's in the starting lineup, but Mondesi's .205/.225/.265 slash line and 2:37 BB:K through 32 games have that starting job on very thin ice.

Lindor went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's 14-2 win over the Cardinals.

Lindor singled, stole a base and scored on a Franmil Reyes homer in the first inning. In the second, Lindor reached on a double play and scored on Carlos Santana's long ball. Lindor's final run of the game came in the sixth inning when he doubled and came home on a Reyes single. The 26-year-old shortstop is up to five homers, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored and a stolen base through 32 contests.

Diaz (groin) could join the Astros on Saturday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Diaz has not played for the Astros since injuring his groin Opening Day, but it appears he is close to returning to action. It remains to be seen what role Diaz will fill when is he activated, but he could serve as Houston's primary third baseman until Alex Bregman (hamstring) is ready to get back on the field.

Edman is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The 25-year-old started both games of Thursday's twin bill and went 3-for-7 with a walk, and he'll take a seat for Friday's contest. Edman is 12-for-34 with two doubles, five runs, seven RBI and a stolen base in his past 10 games. Matt Carpenter will shift to third base while Brad Miller serves as the designated hitter.

Edman went a combined 3-for-7 with a walk during a doubleheader against the Pirates on Thursday.

All three of the versatile Edman's hits were singles, but they served to extend his hitting streak to six games by day's end. The 25-year-old hasn't hit a home run since July 28 and only has a pair of extra-base hits (two doubles) in August, but he's now slashing an impressive .353/.436/.412 across 39 plate appearances over his last 10 games, raising his batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage by 82, 89 and 43 points, respectively.
