Bogaerts (lower body) is back in the lineup as expected Friday against the Yankees, playing shortstop and batting cleanup.

Bogaerts missed Thursday's contest due to what was described as fatigue in his lower half, though his absence was never expected to be a lengthy one. That fatigue hasn't shown up in his numbers thus far, as he's hitting a strong .293/.379/.517 through 18 games.

Seager went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in an 11-2 win over the Padres on Thursday.

Seager wasted little time making his mark after missing five games with a back injury, slugging a two-run shot to right field in the first inning. The long ball was Seager's fourth this season and his eighth extra-base hit overall. He is slashing .333/.390/.630 with 11 runs and nine RBI through 59 plate appearances.

Adames went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, two RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Red Sox.

Adames extended his hitting streak to four games and contributed to the Rays' offensive barrage in Boston. One day after clubbing his first home run of the season, Adames recorded his third multi-hit effort of the campaign. Across 64 plate appearances this season, Adames is hitting .286/.375/.482 with 12 runs scored and five RBI.

Manager Ron Roenicke announced that Bogaerts (lower body) will be back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees after sitting out Thursday's loss to the Rays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Bogaerts sat out Thursday due to what Roenicke described as "fatigue" in the lower half of the shortstop's body. The 27-year-old will look to spark the offense as they face Yankee ace Gerrit Cole on Friday.

Seager (back) is hitting second while serving as the designated hitter Thursday against the Padres.

Seager hasn't played since Friday due to a lower-back injury, but he's been cleared to return for Thursday's series finale after getting through warmups with no issues. The 26-year-old, who is 17-for-50 with three home runs and seven RBI this season, will face right-hander Chris Paddack in his first game back.

Mateo (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Thursday.

A positive COVID-19 test in summer camp forced Mateo to open the season on the shelf, but he's been cleared to return ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Dodgers. It remains to be seen how the Padres plan to use Mateo out of the gates, but he could push Jurickson Profar -- who is hitting just .173 on the season -- for at-bats.

Adames went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his first round tripper of the season, in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old's solo shot broke a season-opening 16-game power drought and served as his sixth extra-base hit of the campaign overall. The blast also extended Adames' modest hitting streak to three games, and fantasy managers can have some cautious optimism that the shortstop may be ready to break out on the power front. Through 58 plate appearances, Adames boasts a career-high 56.3 percent hard-contact rate that should lead to a few more balls leaving the yard if it persists.

Bogaerts is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays after experiencing what Red Sox manager Roenicke referred to as "fatigue" in the shortstop's lower half, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Bogaerts started each of the Red Sox's last 12 games, slashing .350/.447/.600 with six extra-base hits and two stolen bases over that stretch. Though Roenicke made mention of the lower-half injury, Bogaerts will still be available off the bench and is likely just getting a maintenance day before he presumably rejoins the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Yankees. Jose Peraza will slide over from second base to cover Bogaerts' usual post at shortstop Thursday, while rookie Jonathan Arauz picks up a start at the keystone.

Berti went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.

Getting the nod in right field and hitting eighth, the utility player put together another productive effort. Berti has been somewhere in the starting lineup eight times in nine August games, and while his .226 batting average (7-for-31) and one RBI aren't ideal, he's scored seven runs and stolen three bases on the month.

Mateo (COVID-19) was added to the Padres' taxi squad Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Mateo was expected to be part of the big-league roster when San Diego acquired him in late June, but he tested positive for COVID-19 early in summer camp and had been working his way back into shape at the team's alternate training site since late July. As part of the taxi squad, Mateo is working out with the Padres during their road visit to Los Angeles, but he cannot participate in games unless he is first moved to the active roster. It remains to be seen when -- or if -- San Diego plans to work Mateo into its infield mix.
