  • Nasim Nunez SS | WAS

Nationals' Nasim Nunez: Shines in rare start

Nunez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Orioles.

Starting at second base and batting ninth, Nunez made a diving catch on a Gunnar Henderson line drive for the first out in the bottom of the first inning, and he continued to make an impact the rest of the night, both on offense and on defense. The switch-hitting utility player had just one plate appearance in May coming into Friday, but with Amed Rosario (leg) banged up and Paul DeJong (face) still more than a month away from his expected return, Nunez could find his way into the lineup more often in the short term.

  • Bo Bichette SS | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Goes yard again Friday

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Tigers.

The shortstop took Tommy Kahnle deep in the eighth inning to get Toronto within a run, but the home side couldn't complete the comeback. Bichette has four homers on the season, and three of them have come in the last six games, a stretch in which he's also connected for four doubles. Over his last 16 contests, Bichette is slashing .313/.378/.597 as he puts his disappointing 2024 campaign firmly behind him.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Five-game hitting streak

Simpson went 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base Friday against the Marlins.

Simpson began his time in the majors hitting leadoff, but he has hit eighth and ninth in his last two games, coinciding with the return of Josh Lowe. Simpson had slowed down considerably at the plate but is now riding a five-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 9-for-20 with three RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Four-game hitting streak

Meidroth went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base Friday against the Cubs.

Meidroth has started five of the White Sox's six games since returning from a shoulder injury. He has hits in each of his last four contests, going a combined 6-for-16 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Meidroth has very little power, but he has managed to hit .260 with 12 runs scored and four stolen bases across 22 games in his first stint in the majors.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Shines with bat, glove in win

Crawford went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 win over the Padres.

The shortstop set the tone for the night when he crushed the first pitch he saw from Stephen Kolek down the right-field line for a leadoff homer. Crawford also played his usual dazzling defense, highlighted by a 6-3 double play in the fourth inning to squelch a San Diego rally. Through 41 games to begin the season, Crawford's slashing .278/.385/.389 with four homers, two steals, 19 runs and 19 RBI.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Drives in three

Perdomo went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, three RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-0 win over the Rockies.

Perdomo supplied his first two RBI with productive outs -- a groundout in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth -- before adding an RBI double in the eighth. The shortstop is putting together a strong May, batting .354 (17-for-48) over 14 games this month while adding 10 RBI, three steals and an 8:9 BB:K. Overall, Perdomo slashing .294/.397/.458 with five home runs, 10 steals, 34 RBI, 21 runs scored and 10 doubles across 44 contests despite often hitting in the bottom third of the order since Ketel Marte returned from a hamstring injury May 2.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Tallies another triple in loss

Witt went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 10-4 loss to St. Louis.

It was notably Witt's third triple in his past four games. The All-Star shortstop has been an exceptional fantasy producer over the past month, hitting .322 (38-for-118) with four home runs, 11 doubles and 19 RBI to go with 18 runs scored and 11 steals across his last 30 contests. Through 59 at-bats in May, Witt is already up to 11 extra-base hits.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Reinstated from injured list

The Rockies reinstated Tovar (hip) from the injured list Friday.

A bruised hip sent Tovar to the injured list in mid-April, and although he didn't progress through rehab as quickly as the team expected, he now seems to be fully past the injury. The 23-year-old went 4-for-18 with an RBI and a run scored in five rehab games at Triple-A Albuquerque and is expected to reclaim his role as Colorado's primary shortstop.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: In Friday's lineup

Crawford (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and batting out of the leadoff spot against the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Crawford was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Yankees due to shoulder tightness, but the veteran shortstop has been cleared to play in Friday's series opener. Crawford has gone 12-for-50 with one stolen base, one home run and four RBI since the beginning of May.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Placed on concussion IL

The Twins placed Correa on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Correa entered concussion protocol after colliding with Byron Buxton (head) in the outfield during Thursday's game against Baltimore. He'll now be out for at least the next seven days, and the earliest he could return is May 23 against the Royals. The Twins promoted Ryan Fitzgerald from Triple-A St. Paul, and he could see some work in the infield behind Brooks Lee for as long as Correa is sidelined.
