Bichette went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBI in Thursday's loss to the Rays.

Bichette launched an opposite field home run off Austin Pruitt to leadoff the game, then hit his second long ball of the night against Matt Albers in the sixth, knotting the score at 4-4. It was his second multi-homer effort of the season en route to 10 home runs across 34 games.

Correa (back) hit in the batting cage Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Correa, who has been sidelined since Aug. 20 with back soreness, said he felt no pain during Thursday's hitting session, which also included flips and tee work. The shortstop said he's taking it slow but is still hoping to return before the end of the regular season.

Baez was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers due to soreness in his left thumb, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Baez was in line to return to action Thursday after missing a couple games with a sore thumb and neck, but he is apparently not ready to play just yet. Baez was replaced in the lineup by Addison Russell.

Baez (thumb) is starting at shortstop and hitting fifth Thursday against the Brewers.

He was removed from Sunday's game with thumb and neck injuries but Thursday's game was generally seen as his likely return date, so all went according to plan. Baez is hitting .235 with one home run and one steal in his last 10 games.

Rojas is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

He is 1-for-14 with a home run in three games since coming off the injured list. Jon Berti gets the start at shortstop and will lead off.

Edman, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday, is just 10 extra-base hits away from the career-high 32 he laced with Double-A Springfield last season in 249 additional plate appearances.

With Wednesday's double and triple, Edman is now averaging an extra-base hit every 11.3 plate appearances, compared to every 15.6 during his 2018 campaign at Springfield. The rookie is slashing .282/.313/.433 overall during his first big-league stint, having supplemented the impressive pop he's demonstrated with 11 steals over 12 attempts.

Chang is not in Thursday's lineup against the White Sox.

He is the nominal primary third baseman with Jose Ramirez (hand) out for the rest of the regular season, but it would not be surprising if the Indians mixed and matched at the hot corner over the final month. Mike Freeman will start at third and hit sixth.

Crawford went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Wednesday's 9-8 victory over the Cardinals.

Crawford got a bump up to fifth in the order with Alex Dickerson getting the night off and less-experienced additions (Jaylin Davis and Corban Joseph) making their San Francisco debuts. The move proved beneficial for the slumping shortstop, who provided a homer and three RBI after tallying just one and seven respectively through the entire month of August. Even with the Giants sliding out of contention, Crawford and his .229/.299/.363 slash line continue to see regular playing time.

DeJong went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Giants.

DeJong tied his career-high mark for home runs in a season when he took Madison Bumgarner deep in the fourth inning for his 25th long ball of the campaign. While pedestrian in most other categories, DeJong has proven to be a reliable source of power through three major-league seasons by posting a .470 slugging percentage across 1,504 plate appearances. He'll look to end the season on a positive note, though he's hit just .226 in 50 games since the All-Star break.

Marcano was assigned to High-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday.

Marcano will join the Storm for their playoff run. His most outstanding asset is his speed, as he has stolen 40 bases in 212 minor-league games. The 19-year-old has also shown an outstanding eye at the plate, striking out only 76 times in 824 career at-bats while maintaining a healthy .279 batting average.
