Wendle is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The left-handed Wendle sat against southpaws for the first two games of the Rays' season and is sitting again Tuesday against lefty Jordan Montgomery. Tampa Bay appears to be employing a fairly straightforward platoon at second with Wendle and the right-handed Daniel Robertson, who will get the nod again Tuesday.

Correa (toe) underwent X-rays on Monday, which came back negative, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Correa, who stayed in Sunday's game after fouling a ball off his left small toe, was pulled from Monday's home opener after just two innings. Manager A.J. Hinch described Correa as day-to-day and said the shortstop is "very likely be in the lineup" Tuesday against Baltimore.

DeJong hit his third home run as part of a 3-for-4 game with two runs scored and three RBI.

That makes DeJong a scorching 5-for-7 with three homers and five RBI over his past two games. The shortstop is doing his best to make sure his 25-homer rookie campaign last year doesn't go down as a fluke. At this point, the only concern is that a whopping six of his nine outs made have been strikeouts, but fantasy owners will gladly stomach the whiffs for that kind of power at shortstop.

Correa (toe) will be day-to-day after exiting Monday's game early, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Correa fouled a ball off the same toe during Sunday's game against Texas and then aggravated it while taking a groundball in the second inning of Monday's contest. It appears the Astros removed the 23-year-old shortstop as a precaution, and they'll likely gauge how Correa is feeling before making a decision on his status for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Pennington went 0-for-2 with two walks in Monday's win over the Cubs, getting a spot start in place of Jose Peraza.

It was interesting to see Pennington get slotted second on Monday as well. Peraza is off to an 0-for-12 start, which could bode for more starts for Pennington if he can continue to get on base.

Correa left Monday's game against the Orioles after experiencing discomfort in his left foot's big toe, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic Houston reports.

Following Correa's departure, J.D. Davis entered the game to play first base while Marwin Gonzalez moved to shortstop. It's unclear if Correa is dealing with a serious injury or if the decision to pull him from the game was a precautionary measure, but more information should be available soon. If he has to miss time, expect Gonzalez to fill in at shortstop.

Turner is starting at shortstop and occupying the leadoff spot Monday against the Braves.

With Adam Eaton getting his first breather of the season, Turner, who has been hitting fifth or sixth to start the season, will slide up to the top of the order. The speedster spent a lot of time as the Nationals' leadoff man in 2017 after Adam Eaton went down with a torn ACL, slashing .268/.289/.460 across 90 starts atop the lineup. Turner will likely jump up in the order when Eaton requires a maintenance day, and he could stick there on a more regular basis if he impresses manager Davey Martinez at the dish.

Gordon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Indians.

He'd already flashed a bit of unexpected power during spring training, launching three home runs over 59 plate appearances. Naturally, there wasn't much weight given to the mini-surge, considering it came during exhibition play. However, Sunday's 370-foot shot to right not only snapped a 2-2 deadlock, it also represented a third of his combined long-ball total over the last two seasons. It was a strong start to the season overall for Gordon during the opening series, as he went 4-for-12 with a walk and pair of runs in addition to Sunday's blast.

Turner went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Reds.

The steal was his first of the year. Turner has been hitting down in the order in the early going, slotting in fifth Sunday, and while that may end up costing him some opportunities to run wild on the basepaths, there's no guarantee he'll be stuck there all season. The shortstop has already drawn three walks through three games, and he seems intent on proving to manager Dave Martinez he has the OBP chops to hit at the top of the order.

Wendle went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Red Sox.

It was a second straight turn with the starting nine for Wendle, whose two hits Sunday were his first of the season. The 27-year-old is expected to continue serving as the left-handed side of a platoon at second base with Daniel Robertson, which should give him a solid allotment of playing time over the course of the campaign.
