Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX
Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Perfect at plate Monday
Duran went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and a double Monday in a loss to the Giants.
Duran was by far the most productive offensive player for Texas, logging four of the team's seven hits and accounting for the Rangers' only run with a solo blast to left field in the ninth inning. The utility man posted his second four-hit performance of the season and snapped a 2-for-19 cold spell at the plate. Duran continues to provide immense value both with his bat and with his defensive versatility -- he's slashing .274/.326/.455 with 13 homers, 51 runs, 59 RBI and nine stolen bases through 394 plate appearances this season while making double-digit appearances at three different positions in the infield (shortstop, third base and second base) as well as at two different positions in the outfield (left field and right field).

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Sent to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Volpe to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Monday's 13-7 loss to the Cardinals.
Volpe didn't play Monday but had gone 0-for-11 with three strikeouts in his last three games, bringing his slash line down to an unremarkable .240/.325/.322 over 194 plate appearances in the big leagues. Rather than keeping Volpe on hand as part of a timeshare at shortstop with Jose Caballero, the Yankees plan to promote top prospect George Lombard from Triple-A to take over as their everyday option at the position, according to Jack Curry of YES Network. Caballero, meanwhile, is expected to shift into a utility role, and Volpe will get the chance to play on a regular basis at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

George Lombard Jr. SS | NYY
Yankees' George Lombard: Headed to big leagues
The Yankees will call up Lombard from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
The top prospect in the Yankees' farm system, Lombard will be headed to the majors while the big club makes some significant changes to the roster following Monday's 13-7 loss. In order to clear a spot for Lombard, the Yankees will option four players to the minors, including shortstop Anthony Volpe and outfielder Jasson Dominguez. The 20-year-old Lombard earned the call to the big leagues after slashing .268/.405/.440 with six home runs and 10 stolen bases across 262 plate appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since being elevated from Double-A Somerset on April 29. Lombard is likely to settle in as New York's everyday shortstop while Jose Caballero shifts into more of a utility role.

Jorge Mateo SS | TB
Braves' Jorge Mateo: Removed from 40-man roster
Atlanta designated Mateo for assignment Monday.
Mateo has slashed .240/.285/.380 this season and has started only one game since the All-Star break. With Ha-Seong Kim (finger) returning from the injured list Monday, Atlanta has opted to drop Mateo from its 40-man roster.

Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL
Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Returns from injured list
Atlanta activated Kim (finger) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Kim had been shelved since July 4 due to right middle finger inflammation. He's gone just 5-for-73 (.068 average) in the majors this season and slashed an underwhelming .216/.355/.353 in 16 rehab contests. Jim Jarvis remains on the active roster and could continue to serve as Atlanta's primary shortstop over Kim.

Kaeden Kent SS | SF
Giants' Kaeden Kent: Traded to Giants
Kent and Henry Lalane were traded from the Yankees to the Giants on Monday in exchange for Heliot Ramos, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Lalane is the headliner in the return for San Francisco. Kent, who has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury since July 5, has a .302/.359/.433 slash line with six home runs, 20 steals, a 16.1 percent strikeout rate and a 107 wRC+ in 76 games as a 22-year-old at High-A. He has played 41 games at shortstop, 25 games at second base and eight games at third base this year.

Jefferson Rojas SS | NYM
Mets' Jefferson Rojas: Dealt to Mets ahead of deadline
The Mets acquired Rojas from the Cubs on Monday in exchange for right-hander Clay Holmes (fibula) and outfielder Tyrone Taylor, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports.
Considering Holmes is headed for free agency this winter and Taylor projects as a reserve outfielder, coughing up Rojas -- arguably the top prospect in the organization, albeit in a weak farm system -- is a hefty price for the Cubs to pay. The 21-year-old shortstop has shown a solid all-around skill set at Double-A Knoxville this season, chipping in 15 home runs and 17 stolen bases while maintaining a .270 average and 16.4 percent clip over 390 plate appearances.
-
Sammy Stafura SS | NYM
Mets' Sammy Stafura: Headed to Mets in Weaver deal
The Mets acquired Stafura from the Pirates on Monday in exchange for right-hander Luke Weaver and cash considerations, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Stafura will be on the move for the second trade deadline in a row, after the Pirates previously acquired him last July as part of the deal that sent third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes to Cincinnati. A 21-year-old shortstop, Stafura possess good range at the position but may need to eventually move down the positional spectrum to second base or center field. Stafura had been enjoying a strong season at the plate for High-A Greensboro, mashing 19 home runs and going 16-for-17 on stolen-base attempts while slashing .301/.365/.656 over 211 plate appearances.

Marlins' Adrian Santana: Flipped to Miami
The Marlins acquired Santana, infielder Brayden Taylor and right-hander Jacob Kisting from the Rays on Monday in exchange for catcher Liam Hicks, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
The 21-year-old Santana has hit .316/.381/.400 with three home runs, 23 stolen bases and a 19:23 BB:K over 51 contests with High-A Bowling Green this season. Santana was a first-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft and has been used mainly at shortstop in pro ball, though he's also gotten some work at second base.
