  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Rehab games scheduled

Perdomo (knee) will play in the Arizona Complex League this weekend before heading out on a rehab assignment early next week, Arizona Sports reports.

Perdomo suffered a right meniscus tear April 3 and had surgery. The report does not indicate which minor-league affiliate he'll be joining or give an estimated number of reps he'll need. Perdomo will return as the Diamondbacks' starting shortstop, which has been handled by Blaze Alexander and Kevin Newman while Perdomo has been unavailable.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Crushes grand slam Wednesday

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Red Sox.

The majority of Baltimore's scoring output came on Henderson's second-inning, 422-foot grand slam. It was the young shortstop's second career grand slam and 18th homer of the campaign, tying him with Kyle Tucker for the MLB lead. Henderson also ranks seventh in the league with a .938 OPS.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Racks up three hits in win

Winn went 3-for-4 with one RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Reds.

Winn extended his hitting streak to 16 games with Wednesday's strong effort out of the No. 8 spot in the order. He's gone 23-for-61 (.377) with eight extra-base hits, 11 RBI and two stolen bases during the streak. Winn is up to a .308/.358/.440 slash line with two homers, seven steals, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored, 11 doubles and two triples over 49 contests this season. He's seen some looks at leadoff versus left-handed pitchers, but he remains deeper in the order for now against right-handers.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Launches homer in win

Adames went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, three total RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Cubs.

Adames extended his hitting streak to eight games, a span in which he's gone 12-for-31 (.387) with two homers, five doubles and 10 RBI. The shortstop is up to a .255/.328/.454 slash line with nine long balls, 39 RBI, 30 runs scored and eight stolen bases through 55 contests this season. He's bounced back from his poor 2023 and is on pace to challenge for a 100-RBI campaign.

  • Willi Castro LF | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Three hits in loss

Castro went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Royals.

Castro was in a bit of a slump -- he went 0-for-12 over the previous four games before this multi-hit effort. He had a hot stretch in late April and early May, but he's otherwise been little more than league-average at the plate. The 27-year-old is slashing .258/.332/.419 with four home runs, 16 RBI, 27 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 12 doubles and three triples through 55 games this season.

  • Marco Luciano SS | NYY

Giants' Marco Luciano: Leaves with hamstring tightness

Luciano was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Phillies in the bottom of third inning with right hamstring tightness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. He reached base on a throwing error during his only plate appearance before exiting the contest.

Brett Wisely came off the bench to pinch hit for Luciano in the latter's second turn through the batting order. It's unclear whether Luciano first sustained the injury while he was playing shortstop in the top of the third or at some point earlier in the contest, but the Giants should provide more details on his condition after the game. Luciano has been working in the short side of a platoon with the lefty-hitting Wisely at shortstop lately while Nick Ahmed (wrist) is on the injured list.

  • Angel Martinez SS | CLE

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Guardians reinstated Martinez (hand) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

Martinez was protected from the Rule 5 Draft following the 2022 season and was added to the Guardians' 40-man roster, but he's still waiting to make his MLB debut. He wasn't a serious candidate to break camp with the big club, and any outside chance he might have had to crack the Opening Day roster came to an end when he suffered a right foot contusion late in spring training. Martinez then suffered a more significant injury when he began a rehab assignment in April, as he fractured the hamate bone in his left hand during his third game with Columbus. After being shut down for the ensuing six weeks, Martinez started up a new rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last week and is now ready to report to Columbus, where he should play on an everyday basis.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Receives day off

Caballero is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Athletics, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Caballero will get a day off after striking out 23 times over his last 53 plate appearances. Amed Rosario will get the start at shortstop Wednesday while Caballero receives some rest.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Sits out second game

Baez is absent from the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Pirates, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Baez went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Tigers' 8-0 win earlier in the day but will begin the second half of the twin bill on the bench. Zach McKinstry will occupy shortstop for the Tigers.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Sitting against lefty

Wisely is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Though he'll retreat to the bench with southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the hill for Philadelphia, the lefty-hitting Wisely looks to have captured the strong side of a platoon at shortstop with the right-handed-hitting Marco Luciano, who gets the starting nod Wednesday. Wisely started in five of the previous six games, going 9-for-17 with a home run, a stolen base, five RBI and three runs.
