  • David Hamilton SS | MIL

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Two hits, run scored in win

Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a caught stealing in Thursday's 7-0 win over Oakland.

Hamilton doubled and scored in the first inning then singled and was caught stealing an inning later. It was the second time this season Hamilton has been thrown out on a steal attempt, but he's been successful 23 times. The infielder, whose hot bat from late May and early June had cooled recently, has multiple hits in two of the last three games.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Goes deep in win

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Orioles.

The home run was Swanson's ninth of the season and first since June 19. Since then, the shortstop has batted just .191 across 19 games. For the season, Swanson is hitting .209, which is a decent step back from his career average of .250. While it's been a disappointing first half, the 30-year-old is talented enough to pick things up in a hurry, so fantasy managers should try to remain patient.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Goes yard again

Turner went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base during Thursday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers.

Turner has been red-hot in July, with Thursday's solo homer off Anthony Banda being the shortstop's sixth of the month. Turner also added his 12th pilfer of 2024, swiping second base after being walked in the eighth inning. The 31-year-old is slashing .348/.393/.529 with nine home runs across 244 plate appearances.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

    Rays' Taylor Walls: Resting Thursday

Walls isn't in the Rays' lineup Thursday versus the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After going 2-for-3 during Wednesday's loss, Walls will take a seat for Thursday's series finale against Nestor Cortes. Jose Caballero will get the nod to start at shortstop instead.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Dealing with calf strain

Bichette, who is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, was diagnosed with a fascia strain in his right calf, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest and is currently considered day-to-day. Bichette dealt with a strain in the same calf last month that resulted in a short stay on the injured list, though it's unclear if an IL move will be necessary this time around. The Blue Jays could add a player to the taxi squad in order to provide some potential depth at shortstop for the immediate future.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Sitting out Thursday

Bichette (calf) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.

Bichette made an early exit from Wednesday's 10-6 win after experiencing soreness in his right calf while he was playing the field during a pickoff attempt. Though the Blue Jays appear to be viewing Bichette as day-to-day for now, he spent time on the injured list in June with a strain of the same calf. Leo Jimenez will fill in for Bichette at shortstop Thursday.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Back in lineup

Cruz (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat third Thursday against the Brewers.

Cruz missed two games after making an early exit from Monday's contest due to hamstring soreness, but the issue appears to have subsided Thursday. Since the beginning of July, the 25-year-old has gone 8-for-24 with two homers and five RBI over seven games.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | NYY

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Stays hot in Wednesday's win

Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Schuemann made plenty of noise out of the bottom of the order, generating one of two multi-hit efforts for the Athletics on the night while recording a steal for the second straight game. The rookie shortstop also has an eight-game on-base streak, and he's now posted multi-hit tallies twice in the last four contests.

  • Dylan Moore LF | PHI

Mariners' Dylan Moore: Grabs 16th steal Wednesday

Moore went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Moore delivered one of the Mariners' four singles on the night and also continued inching closer to surpassing the career-high 21 steals he recorded in both 2021 and 2022 by swiping his 16th bag of the campaign. Moore has also hit safely in four consecutive starts, but his .213 average still leaves plenty to be desired.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Getting rare day off

De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

For just the second time all season, De La Cruz will will hit the bench. According to Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, De La Cruz's absence isn't related to the hand injury he's been managing recently; instead, the 22-year-old is just getting a well-overdue afternoon off while Cincinnati wraps up its series with Colorado with a day game after a night game. De La Cruz won't have much of a chance to catch his breath during the upcoming week while he makes his first All-Star Game appearance next Tuesday in Texas, so the Reds presumably wanted to build in some extra rest for him heading into the Midsummer Classic. Santiago Espinal will step in at shortstop for De La Cruz on Thursday.
