  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting in third straight

Duran is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Duran is on the bench for the third straight game and is unlikely to recapture an everyday role over the final two weeks of the season after the Rangers activated Josh Jung (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Monday. After getting off to a hot start to the season at the plate, Duran is slashing just .224/.291/.314 with a 29.5 percent strikeout rate since the All-Star break.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Pops 10th homer

Arias went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Royals.

Arias reached the double-digit home run milestone with a 394-foot solo shot in the fourth inning. He later added an additional RBI via a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Although the 23-year-old has cemented himself as the starting Cleveland shortstop, he has struggled at the dish this year. Arias has produced a .215/.281/.362 slash line over 117 games.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Losing work to Urias

Reyes will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Rangers.

The righty-hitting Reyes will stick in the lineup against a lefty (Jordan Montgomery), but he had sat out on each of the last three occasions in which the Red Sox faced off against right-handed pitching. The Red Sox have seemingly moved Reyes into a utility role while Luis Urias has been prioritized at second base of late.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Could be activated next week

Reds manager David Bell said McLain (oblique) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list as soon as next Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Per MLB.com, McLain is expected to resume taking batting practice Monday, and if all goes well while he spends the upcoming week gradually ramping up the intensity of his baseball activities, he could get the green light to rejoin the Reds for the final week of the regular season. While McLain has been on the shelf since Aug. 28 with a right oblique strain, fellow rookie Noelvi Marte has been able to pick up more work on the left side of the infield.

  • Tristan Gray SS | MIN

Rays' Tristan Gray: Headed back to minors

Gray was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Gray had two hits -- including his first home run -- in his major-league debut Sunday in Baltimore, but that won't prevent a return trip to Durham. He's no longer needed on the active roster with the Rays reinstating Taylor Walls (personal) from the paternity list in a corresponding move.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Ties career-high RBI tally

Crawford went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a walk in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

Crawford's timely second-inning knock drove home Eugenio Suarez with the only run of the afternoon for the Mariners to give the former his 54th RBI of the campaign, tying a career high. Crawford's productive day at the plate overall was essentially the only bright spot for the Mariners as they wrapped up a disappointing litmus test of an interleague series against the Dodgers, and the multi-hit effort extended the veteran shortstop's on-base streak to eight games.

  • Kyren Paris SS | LAA

Angels' Kyren Paris: Getting thumb checked out

Paris is scheduled to undergo further testing on his sore left thumb Monday, MLB.com reports.

Paris had been slated to make a fourth consecutive start in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Tigers but was scratched shortly before opening pitch due to the injury. The Angels are viewing Paris as day-to-day for now, but the upcoming tests should determine if he's dealing with anything beyond minor soreness. If Paris can quickly move past the injury, he could end up seeing a near-everyday role for the rest of the season while bouncing between second base and center field.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Dropped to ninth

De La Cruz batted ninth and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Mets.

De La Cruz's slide down the batting order reached its lowest point since he was called up in June. A second-half slump finally prompted manager David Bell to drop the rookie this past week. In his last four starts, De La Cruz has batted seventh, eighth (twice) and ninth. It was encouraging to see him knock a pair of hits Saturday after getting a day off Friday, but the 21-year-old's struggles continued Sunday. De La Cruz has batted .184 since the All-Star break.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Hits rare home run

Crawford went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 11-10 win over the Rockies.

Crawford came through in a big way with a three-run blast off Matt Koch in the sixth for his seventh home run of the year and his first since Aug. 1. Crawford has just two extra-base hits in 40 plate appearances in September as he continues to hold down a part-time role. The 36-year-old has struggled to a slash line of .196/.276/.319 and will look to provide any spark he can as the Giants make a push for a wild card spot.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Not in Sunday's lineup

Perdomo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Perdomo is in the midst of a 0-for-22 slump and will take a seat after starting the previous three games. Rookie Jordan Lawlar will handle shortstop and bat ninth.
