  • Kyren Paris SS | LAA

Angels' Kyren Paris: Scratched with thumb issue

Paris was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Tigers with left thumb soreness.

Paris was poised to make his second consecutive start but was instead a late scratch due to the thumb injury. Zach Neto will join the starting nine after initially being slated for a day off.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Late addition to lineup

Neto is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday against the Tigers, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to sit Sunday but will end up starting after Kyren Paris (undisclosed) was scratched from the lineup. Neto is 1-for-20 with three walks, a run and eight strikeouts in five games since he returned from the injured list.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Not starting Sunday

Neto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Neto is 1-for-20 with three walks, a run and eight strikeouts since being activated from the injured list last weekend, so he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale. David Fletcher will work at shortstop and bat second.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Out of Sunday's lineup

Rojas is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Mariners.

Rojas has an .854 OPS through 13 games in September and will take a seat Sunday after the Dodgers secured the NL West crown on Saturday. Amed Rosario will man shortstop and bat seventh in the series finale.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Not in Sunday's lineup

Winn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Winn started the previous seven games and will receive a day off after going 4-for-21 during that span. Tommy Edman will shift to shortstop while Juniel Querecuto starts at the keystone Sunday.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Keeps running Saturday

Witt went 2-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Astros.

Witt's posted five multi-hit efforts over his last six games, and he's running at just about every chance he gets. He's logged eight steals to go with five RBI and seven runs scored in that span. The shortstop is up to 47 thefts with a .280/.322/.501 slash line, 29 home runs, 90 RBI and 86 runs scored through 145 contests, and he's within striking distance of 50 steals with two weeks left in the season.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Out of lineup

Anderson is not in the White Sox's lineup Sunday versus the Twins.

Anderson was omitted from the lineup for the second time in the week. However, when he was on the bench Sept 12, it was the second game of a doubleheader. Elvis Andrus will start at short and bat leadoff in the 30-year-old's place.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Records 24th steal

Volpe went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in a 6-3 victory versus the Pirates on Saturday.

Volpe has notched three thefts through 14 games in September, one more than he had in 27 contests in August. The 22-year-old is up 24 steals on the campaign, fifth-most among MLB rookies. Volpe and Corbin Carroll are the only rookies with at least 20 homers and 20 thefts in 2023.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Shines in twin bill

Tovar went 5-for-8 with a double, a triple, three runs, five RBI and a stolen base across both games of Saturday's doubleheader sweep against the Giants.

Tovar plated four runs in the matinee, three of which came on a bases-clearing triple. He added a run-scoring single in the nightcap, giving him more RBI (five) in the doubleheader than he had accumulated (four) over his first 13 games of September combined. Tovar's big day lifted his batting average this month from .220 to .276.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Resting during nightcap

Crawford will be on the bench for the evening portion of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Crawford went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored in the afternoon game. The 36-year-old won't be asked to start two games in one day, so it will instead be Paul DeJong who handles shortstop in the nightcap.
