Pena went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Red Sox.

Pena was a thorn in the side of the Red Sox on Sunday, matching his 2023 season totals in homers (10) and steals (13). He's been a bit volatile in August, logging four multi-hit efforts while going hitless in his other five games. On the season, the shortstop is hitting .273 with 54 RBI and 59 runs scored across 480 plate appearances in what has been a solid bounceback campaign.

The Mariners optioned Bliss to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was called up by Seattle on Wednesday but will return to the minors due to Julio Rodriguez (ankle) being activated from the injured list. Bliss has played in 33 big-league games this season and has a .687 OPS and 31 percent strikeout rate in 71 plate appearances.

Ahmed is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

After signing a one-year contract with the Dodgers on July 24, Ahmed had started at shortstop in 11 of the club's ensuing 12 games, but he's faded into a reserve role following Miguel Rojas' return from the injured list Wednesday. Now on the bench for the third time in four contests, Ahmed is a candidate to lose his spot on the roster once the Dodgers return the likes of Tommy Edman (wrist), Max Muncy (oblique), Chris Taylor (groin) and Mookie Betts (hand) from the injured list.

McKinstry will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Giants.

McKinstry will be filling in for a resting Javier Baez on Sunday, but the 29-year-old McKinstry could begin to gain more traction in a regular role in the outfield after Wenceel Perez (oblique) joined Riley Greene (hamstring) on the injured list Saturday. The utility man is included in the lineup Sunday for the sixth time in seven games and has picked up starts at shortstop, second base, third base and in left field during that stretch. He's getting on base at a .348 clip since the beginning of August.

Baez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Baez started the past two games after dealing with some neck soreness, but he'll exit the starting nine for Sunday's series finale in San Francisco. His .638 OPS through eight games in August is actually an improvement on his .499 OPS for the season. Zach McKinstry is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Caballero is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Caballero has gone 6-for-15 with a double, a home run and four stolen bases during a five-game hit streak, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's contest. Curtis Mead will step in at the hot corner and bat sixth in the series finale versus Baltimore.

Abrams (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Abrams sat out the past two games due to back spasms and said Saturday he was hoping return for Tuesday's matchup with the Orioles, so his absence from the lineup Sunday isn't surprising. The 23-year-old will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery ahead of Tuesday's series opener. Nasim Nunez will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Abrams' place.

Neto went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Nationals.

The shortstop took Patrick Corbin deep in the fifth inning, which was Neto's fourth homer in the last seven games. The 23-year-old is batting .448 (13-for-29) over that hot streak, pushing his slash line on the year up to .267/.329/.469, and he's closing in on his first career 20-20 campaign with 17 long balls and 21 steals through 114 contests.

Edwards went 1-for-4 with two walks, a run scored and two stolen bases in Saturday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Padres.

The Marlins ran wild on Kyle Higashioka, going 5-for-5 on steal attempts on the afternoon with Edwards leading the charge. The 25-year-old shortstop is up to 15 stolen bases in 17 attempts through only 37 games on the season, but he's been even more dangerous on the basepaths over the last couple weeks, going 11-for-11 in the last 16 contests while slashing .359/.419/.469. The last player in MLB history to steal 100 or more bases over a full season was Vince Coleman in 1987 with 109, but that's the kind of pace Edwards is on right now.

Seager went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

After going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during a shutout loss in the matinee, Seager's bat woke up in the nightcap, and his sixth-inning shot off Luke Weaver gave the Rangers a 6-1 lead in an eventual 9-4 win. Seager is surging, launching six homers over the last eight games with 10 RBI, and on the season the All-Star shortstop is slashing .273/.353/.497 with 25 long balls and 60 RBI.
