DeJong went 5-for-6 with a walk, a double and a two-run homer across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals.

The veteran shortstop provided Chicago's only runs in Game 1 with a two-run home run during the second inning, and he collected two more singles in the nightcap. DeJong entered the day with a .618 OPS through 13 games this season, but the five-hit barrage raised his season slash line to .275/.293/.600.

Tovar went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and a run scored during Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Tovar entered the game 1-for-14 (.071) over his last four games but snapped the cold spell with his seventh multi-hit performance of the campaign. While he's striking out at an alarming 31.3 percent clip, Tovar ranks top three on the Rockies in hits (22), RBI (10) and runs scored (nine) while slashing .306/.363/.486.

Turner went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 7-6 win over Colorado.

Turner went back-to-back with Kyle Schwarber in the first inning for solo home runs off Ryan Feltner, marking the shortstop's second long ball of 2024. He's been on a tear during the Phillies' last two series, going 12-for-29 (.413) at the plate with six extra-base hits and seven runs scored over seven games.

Gonzalez (wrist) felt pain while taking swings Wednesday and is scheduled to undergo an MRI, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old appeared to be progressing well after being placed on the injured list over the weekend with a wrist sprain, but his immediate outlook is hazy after the setback. Gonzalez will be eligible to return from the injured list Sunday, but he now seems likely to be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum.

Arias will start in center field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

After making just four starts in the Guardians' first 13 games, Arias now finds himself in the lineup for a fifth straight contest. Though he doesn't have a direct path to a starting role at any one spot while the Guardians are seemingly committed to Brayan Rocchio as their primary shortstop, Arias has made it tough for manager Stephen Vogt to take him out of the lineup while he's wielding a hot bat. Over his last four games, Arias has gone 8-for-16 with five extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple and one home run) and one walk.

The Guardians transferred Martinez (foot) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Martinez opened the season on the IL with what the Guardians listed as a right foot contusion, but he appears to have been diagnosed with the broken hand upon being lifted early in his third rehab game with Triple-A Columbus this past Saturday. As a result of the move to the 60-day IL, Martinez won't be eligible for activation until late May. Martinez has two minor-league options remaining and is likely to be assigned to Columbus once he completes a rehab assignment and is ready for activation.

Triple-A Durham placed Basabe on its 7-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured right wrist, Triple-A Durham radio play-by-play broadcaster Patrick Kinas reports.

Basabe suffered the injury Tuesday, when he was hit by a pitch in his lone plate appearance during Durham's 7-4 loss to Worcester. The Rays haven't indicated whether Basabe's injury will require surgery, but given that he throws and bats from the right side, he'll likely be headed for a multi-week absence even if he doesn't require a procedure. Basabe, who appeared in 31 games for Tampa Bay last season and retains a spot on the Rays' 40-man roster, was hitting .224/.270/.276 over 63 plate appearances with Durham before being shut down with the injury.

Crawford is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

The Mariners are wrapping up their series against Cincinnati with a day game after a night game and a lefty (Andrew Abbott) is on the hill for the Reds, so Seattle skipper Scott Servais likely felt that it was an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Crawford a day off. Crawford will cede shortstop to Dylan Moore while Julio Rodriguez replaces Crawford atop the batting order.

Crawford went 2-for-5 with a run in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Crawford's multi-hit effort was his first of the season -- a much-needed shot in the arm for his struggling bat. Crawford has now managed to reach safely in eight consecutive games, albeit while mustering just one extra-base hit in that sample. The veteran shortstop's slash line sits at a forgettable .171/.266/.257 across 79 plate appearances, but there aren't yet any discernible rumblings about a potential loss of playing time.

Allen will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Though he's back in the lineup against Cardinals southpaw Steven Matz, Allen had been withheld from the starting nine in each of the past three games, when the opposition brought right-handed pitchers to the hill. Allen looks to have moved into the short side of a platoon at shortstop with Darell Hernaiz.
