The Astros selected Matthews' contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

As expected, the 23-year-old will join Houston for the start of a three-game homestand against Texas and is poised to make his MLB debut. Matthews has posted 10 home runs and 25 stolen bases, along with an .876 OPS for Sugar Land this season. He could take over as the starter at second base while Jose Altuve reinforces the Astros' injury-plagued outfield, which just lost Jake Meyers (calf).

Montgomery isn't part of the starting nine for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against Cleveland.

With southpaw Logan Allen on the mound for the Guardians, Montgomery will take a seat for Friday's matinee. Chase Meidroth will fill in at shortstop while Lenyn Sosa plays the keystone.

Kim went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Red Sox.

Kim opened the scoring for the Rays by blasting his first home run of the season in the fourth inning. He's settled into an everyday role since returning from both shoulder and calf injuries, starting three straight games while hitting fifth or sixth in the lineup. It's a very small sample, but Kim has gone 5-for-15 with two extra-base hits and a stolen base to start his tenure with Tampa Bay.

Seager went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 11-4 win over the Angels.

Seager posted multiple hits for a fourth straight game and extended his on-base streak to 15 contests. The shortstop has been on a heater, slashing .364/.500/.764 with six home runs, four doubles, 13 walks, 14 RBI and 17 runs during the streak. His revival coincides with a team-wide offensive renaissance. The Rangers are second in MLB with 63 runs scored during the month of July (nine games).

Arias (ankle) took at-bats during a live batting practice session Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Arias was part of a BP session that featured injured starter Shane Bieber (elbow). It's an encouraging sign that Arias has returned to baseball activities after being carted off the field June 29, but as yet a return timeline for the infielder isn't clear.

Perdomo went 2-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and an RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to San Diego.

The two doubles increased Perdomo's total to 20, the third consecutive season he's delivered at least 20 two-baggers. He's overcome a shaky beginning to June and hit safely in 16 of the last 21 contests, posting a slash line of .301/.414/.458 during that span. Other than that stretch in June, Perdomo has been remarkably consistent in 2025 and overall sports a .980 OPS with runners in scoring position, which has fueled a career-high 65 RBI through the first 93 games.

Neto went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Thursday's 11-4 loss to the Rangers.

Neto has collected two homers and four multi-hit efforts over his last eight games. Those two homers have been solo shots, accounting for all of his RBI in that span, and he's added 11 runs scored from atop the Angels' lineup. Neto continues to be consistent at the plate with a .273/.318/.485 slash line, 14 homers, 31 RBI, 57 runs scored and 16 stolen bases over 74 games this season. The one downside in his recent run of success has been an uptick in strikeouts, which he has 10 of over his last five games.

Swanson went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 8-1 win over the Twins.

Swanson was one of five Chicago players to record multiple hits in the easy win. The shortstop is now riding a nine-game hitting streak, and he's batting .342 this month with a home run, four RBI and seven runs scored. Swanson remains a steady fantasy performer who plays nearly every day, which gives him a stable floor for managers.

Henderson went 4-for-6 with a two-run homer, a double and an additional run scored in Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets.

After starting the opening game on the bench, Henderson provided the decisive blow as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning, launching a two-run homer off Ryne Stanek, his 11th of the year, to put the Orioles ahead 2-1. The 24-year-old Henderson would then add three more hits in the nightcap. It was an encouraging day for the shortstop, who'd gone just 8-for-39 (.205) in his previous nine games. Overall, Henderson's slashing .277/.343/.451 with 31 RBI, 48 runs scored and 10 stolen bases across 361 plate appearances this season.

Matthews will get a chance to show off his skills in the majors after slashing .298/.401/.504 with four homers, 16 RBI, 24 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 31 games since the beginning of June. The Astros may look to use the 23-year-old regularly at second base while returning Jose Altuve to left field to provide aid for an outfield unit that has been hit hard by injuries recently.
