Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Active, not in Thursday's lineup
Tovar was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
He is not in Thursday's lineup but could be available off the bench. Tovar should play pretty regularly down the stretch given the Rockies view him as the shortstop of the future. He hit .316/.384/.537 with 14 home runs and 17 steals in 71 games between Double-A and Triple-A.

Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Not yet active
Tovar, who is expected to join the Rockies on Thursday, is not in the lineup against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
It's not unusual for a prospect to watch his first big-league game from the bench, and in this case, Tovar isn't even on the lineup card yet. His official activation may come Friday. Once active, Tovar should play pretty regularly, as the Rockies view him as the shortstop of the future. He hit .316/.384/.537 with 14 home runs and 17 steals in 71 games between Double-A and Triple-A.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Collects two hits
Crawford went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.
Crawford led off the fourth inning with a double before coming around to score on a Jason Vosler triple. The shortstop came back the very next inning with a two-out RBI single to put the Giants up 4-0. Crawford has now hit safely in three straight games after registering just five hits in September leading up to that stretch.

Brewers' Willy Adames: Hot streak continues
Adames went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored Wednesday against the Mets.
Adames took Taijuan Walker yard in the sixth inning to record his 31st homer of the season. He's been very hot at the dish across his last 10 starts, maintaining a .457 average with five homers, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. Adames is putting together a nice conclusion to his breakout season, as he has already established career-best marks in runs scored, RBI, home runs and stolen bases across 562 plate appearances.

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Picks up steal Wednesday
Mateo stole a base and scored a run as a pinch runner in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Tigers.
Mateo entered the game in the eighth inning after Terrin Vavra got aboard with a single. Prior to Wednesday, Mateo had hit .135 over his last 11 games without recording a steal in that span. He's up to 31 thefts in 39 tries this year while adding a .220/.267/.388 slash line, 13 home runs, 48 RBI, 57 runs scored, seven triples and 22 doubles through 135 contests. He's sat out two of the last five games amid his recent slump at the plate, but he's still likely to see most of the reps at shortstop.

Josh H. Smith 2B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Mashes second home run
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's victory over the Angels.
After tallying an RBI with a fielder's choice in the second inning, Smith provided a big insurance run for the Rangers on Wednesday , as he hit a solo shot in the seventh to improve the lead to 4-2. The home run was his second of the season and first extra-base hit since July 29. He is slashing .205/.311/.261 through 205 plate appearances this season and will likely maintain a part-time role moving forward.

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Promotion coming Thursday
Tovar is expected to be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to play in Thursday's series finale against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season with Double-A Hartford before he landed on the injured list with a groin injury in late June, and he was promoted to Albuquerque last week after he completed a rehab assignment. Tovar went 5-for-17 with a home run and two RBI in his first four games at Triple-A, and he posted a .314/.383/.542 slash line with 13 long balls, 47 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 66 contests at Double-A. He is Colorado's top prospect and should receive regular opportunities down the stretch in his first taste of the majors.
