White Sox's Tim Anderson: Still not ready for rehab stint

Anderson (hand) is not yet ready to begin a rehab assignment, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox were hoping to get Anderson back this week, and there is still a chance that could happen. However, with him already missing six weeks and not yet ready for game action, the likelihood of that occurring is lessening.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Wendle is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Cubs, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

He sat out against a lefty Monday, but Wendle will remain on the bench with righty Adrian Sampson on the hill for the Cubs, so perhaps he is a little banged up. Charles Leblanc is hitting third and starting at second base while Jordan Groshans starts at the hot corner.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Takes seat again Tuesday

Story (heel) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Story ran Sunday and had an extra day to rest with the Red Sox off Monday, but he is still not ready to return to action. Story was close to getting back on the field last week, but as things stand, it's unclear when he will be cleared to do so.

  • Marco Luciano SS | NYY

Giants' Marco Luciano: Added to Double-A playoff roster

Luciano is joining Double-A Richmond on Tuesday for their postseason, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

This move makes sense on several fronts. First, it allows Luciano to make up for the time he has missed this season with back and leg injuries (played in 57 games at High-A). Second, it will give Luciano his first exposure to upper-level pitching. He hit .263/.339/.459 with 10 home runs, a .195 ISO, a 22.2 percent strikeout rate and a 9.6 percent walk rate in 230 plate appearances. Luciano, who will be added to the 40-man roster this offseason, figures to spend a good chunk of next season at Double-A.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Grabs seat for Game 1

Perdomo is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

Perdomo went hitless over his last six games, so manager Torey Lovullo decided to hold him out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's twin bill. Sergio Alcantara will start at shortstop in Perdomo's place.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Laces third triple Monday

Crawford went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs in a win over the Angels on Monday.

Crawford belted his third triple of the season in the third inning -- ironically the only time he reached base that he didn't come around to score. The veteran shortstop has been getting particularly good wood on the ball of late, as he's now sporting a .290 average and .984 OPS over the last 10 games thanks in part to the fact he's laced five of his nine hits during that span for extra bases.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Running bases

Story (heel) ran the bases Sunday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Story experienced left heel pain more than a week ago and hasn't played since. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Story's return is about how much pain the infielder can tolerate while running.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Homers, steals two bases

Berti went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases in Monday's 10-3 win over the Cubs.

Berti's solo shot in the fourth inning was just his fourth long ball of the year and first this month. He's now swiped 36 bags in 40 attempts, extending his MLB lead. The veteran infielder was trapped in an 0-for-16 slump before Monday's big day. Berti improved his season slash line to .249/.335/.351 with 21 extra-base hits and 43 runs scored through 88 games.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

    Marlins' Joey Wendle: Sitting Monday

Wendle is on the bench Monday against the Cubs.

The infielder takes a seat with lefty Wade Miley on the bump for Chicago. Wendle doubled Sunday and is 10-for-27 with four two-baggers in his last eight games.

  • Matt McLain 2B | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Heating up recently

McLain has hit .292/.514/.625 with two homers, three steals and an 11:11 BB:K across his last seven games for Double-A Chattanooga.

He'd been slumping pretty badly before this stretch, posting a meager .617 OPS with zero homers over his prior 16 contests. It's been a hot-and-cold season for McLain, but with 17 homers, 27 steals and an .808 OPS in 103 games, he's been able to raise his prospect profile significantly. The caveat, of course, is that he's hitting .229 with a 28.1 percent strikeout rate. It's hard to see him succeeding in the majors without making significant adjustments to cut down on the whiffs.
