Seth Lugo SP | KC
Royals' Seth Lugo: Done for 2025 season
Royals manager Matt Quatraro confirmed Sunday that Lugo (back) won't return this season, Jackson Stone of MLB.com reports.
Lugo landed on the injured list due to a back issue in early September. He was able to throw a bullpen session early this week but did not respond well. Quatraro explained Sunday that the injury is "not getting better quickly enough to do anything meaningful for him to come out here and force it." Lugo will finish his 10th MLB campaign with a 4.15 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 125:55 K:BB while posting an 8-7 record over 26 starts spanning 145.1 innings. There's currently no reason to believe that he won't be able to have a normal offseason.

Wyatt Langford OF | TEX
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Back in action Sunday
Langford (side) is batting second and starting in left field Sunday against Miami.
Langford was held out of the lineup both Friday and Saturday while dealing with left side tightness, though he was able to enter Saturday's contest as a pinch runner. That served as a precursor to his return to the lineup Sunday. Langford will try to turn around what has been a rough September, as he's batting a meager .170 with one homer and four RBI through 16 games this month.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Absent from lineup Sunday
Lewis isn't in the starting lineup Sunday versus Cleveland.
Lewis will take a seat amidst a strong September during which he's batted .274 with three homers, 10 RBI and nine stolen bases through 18 games. Ryan Fitzgerald is getting a turn at the hot corner in Lewis' stead Sunday.

Jordan Westburg 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Out of lineup Sunday
Westburg is not starting against the Yankees on Sunday.
Since being activated off the 10-day IL on Tuesday, Westburg had started five straight games, but he went just 1-for-20 with 10 strikeouts over that span. He'll get a day to reset Sunday while Jeremiah Jackson makes a start at the hot corner.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Resting Sunday
Langeliers is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus Pittsburgh.
Langeliers will get at least a partial day off his feet after starting at catcher four of the past five days. Willie MacIver is getting a turn behind the plate for the series finale against the Pirates.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Beginning on bench Sunday
Volpe is not in the starting lineup against the Orioles on Sunday.
Volpe has been dealing with a shoulder issue for much of the season and has missed a few games in September as a result, but he entered Sunday having started four of New York's past five games at shortstop. With that said, there's no indication that Sunday's day off is anything more than a maintenance day. Jose Caballero is starting at shortstop for the series finale.

Sean Burke P | CHW
White Sox's Sean Burke: Handling starting role Sunday
Burke is slated to start Sunday's game against the Padres in Chicago.
Burke was deployed in bulk relief in his most recent appearance Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Orioles, covering four frames while striking out four and allowing one earned run on two hits and four walks. He'll return to a more traditional starting role Sunday for the White Sox's final home game of the season and will line up for a final turn through the rotation next weekend in Washington.

Jarren Duran CF | BOS
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Uses legs to score
Duran went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over Tampa Bay.
After Duran helped win a game Friday with a two-run HR, he used his legs Saturday. He scored the game's first run in the third inning when he singled, stole second, then advanced to third and again to home on wild pitches by Rays starter Adrian Houser. The stolen base was Duran's 24th and the run scored his 84th of the season. Now that he's back in the leadoff spot, Duran could be good source of steals and runs over the final week of the regular season.

Joe Boyle SP | TB
Rays' Joe Boyle: Awarded another start
Boyle is slated to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox in Tampa.
After officially being eliminated from playoff contention Friday, the Rays appear set to finish out the season with a six-man rotation that includes Boyle. The Rays recalled the right-hander from Triple-A Durham on Monday, and he fared well in his start against the Blue Jays later that day, taking a no-decision while striking out five over six shutout innings. For the season, Boyle owns a 4.64 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB in 42.2 innings over 11 appearances (seven starts) for Tampa Bay.
