Sean Newcomb RP | CHW
Athletics' Sean Newcomb: Out with elbow inflammation
The Athletics placed Newcomb on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left elbow inflammation.
Newcomb's move to the injured list will ensure he remains out for the rest of the season, putting a stamp on his campaign after he turned in a 2.73 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 92.1 total innings between the Red Sox and A's. Scott McGough was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the void in the bullpen.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Officially placed on IL
Gelof was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a dislocated left shoulder.

Scott McGough RP | ATH
Athletics' Scott McGough: Up from Vegas
The Athletics recalled McGough from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
With Sean Newcomb (elbow) headed for the injured list, the A's will turn to McGough to provide the big club with depth in their bullpen. The 35-year-old has surrendered 10 earned runs in just 12 MLB innings this season but owns a 3.18 ERA through 39.2 frames in the minors. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage work.

Max Muncy SS | ATH
Athletics' Max Muncy: Activated from IL
Muncy (hand) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Saturday's game against the Pirates.
Muncy has been on the shelf since July 21 due to a hairline fracture at the base of the fourth metacarpal in his right hand and did not go on a rehab assignment, instead going through a hitting progression on the side. Zack Gelof (dislocated shoulder) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Muncy should get some starts at third base and the keystone over the final eight games of the season, although he is on the bench Saturday.

Zach Cole OF | HOU
Astros' Zach Cole: Day off Saturday

Cam Smith is starting in right field and batting ninth.
