The Rays recalled Englert from Triple-A Durham on Friday and will have him start or pitch in bulk relief in the second game of their doubleheader versus the Red Sox, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Tampa Bay designated Englert as the 27th man for the twin bill, so he'll likely be returned to Durham after the doubleheader is completed. The 26-year-old has made two starts and 11 relief appearances for Tampa Bay this season, logging a 3.82 ERA and 28:7 K:BB over 30.2 innings.

The Red Sox recalled Gamboa from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Gamboa will serve as the 27th man during Friday's doubleheader against the Rays. The left-hander has made four appearances out of the Boston bullpen in 2026, allowing two runs with a 4:4 K:BB over five frames.

The Orioles recalled Encarnacion-Strand from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Encarnacion-Strand will fill the 26-man roster spot vacated by Blaze Alexander, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a broken left hand. Acquired from the Reds back in April, Encarnacion-Strand has slashed .273/.309/.555 with 17 homers, 48 RBI, 35 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 12:77 BB:K across 257 plate appearances with Norfolk this season. He mostly played first base during his time with Cincinnati the previous three campaigns but has seen more action at the hot corner this year at Triple-A.

The Orioles placed Alexander on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a fractured left hand, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The move is retroactive to July 13, as Alexander suffered the injury in Sunday's game against the Royals when he was hit by a pitch in the hand. He's likely looking at more than the minimum stay on the injured list. Alexander is enjoying a career year in his first season with Baltimore, slashing .312/.368/.439 with four homers, 29 RBI, 31 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 16:54 BB:K across 246 plate appearances. Alexander has become the Orioles' everyday third baseman. Coby Mayo, Jeremiah Jackson and Christian Encarnacion-Strand could all see extra playing time with Alexander sidelined.

Ryan is not listed among the Twins' probable pitchers for this weekend's series against the Cubs, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Ryan made his last start of the first half Saturday and then threw a scoreless frame during the All-Star Game. The Twins will give him a little extra rest before his first outing of the second half, which will likely come Monday in Cleveland. Ryan logged a 2.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 128:25 K:BB over 110.1 innings covering 20 first-half starts.

DeGrom (glute) appears tentatively lined up to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

DeGrom had to be scratched from his final scheduled start of the first half due to a mild left glute strain. He planned to play catch over the All-Star break before likely throwing a bullpen session this weekend. As long as he gets through that mound session without any hiccups, deGrom is likely to take the ball Sunday in the series finale. If deGrom needs a little more time, the Rangers could push him back to start during next week's home series versus the White Sox.

Lopez will start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jason Burke of Roundtable.io reports.

A path was cleared for Lopez to re-enter the Athletics' rotation when Aaron Civale was designated for assignment Wednesday. Lopez has made two relief appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas last week, allowing four runs with a 5:1 K:BB over 4.2 innings. All told, the southpaw has logged an ugly 6.83 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 43:34 K:BB over 55.1 innings in the majors this season.

Miles is listed as the Blue Jays' starting pitcher for Friday's game versus the White Sox in Toronto, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The rookie right-hander will be followed in the rotation by Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Dylan Cease and Kevin Gausman as the Blue Jays open their second-half schedule. Miles has been impressive this season, and over his first 60 innings across 26 appearances (three starts), he's produced a 2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB. He hasn't tossed more than 55 pitches in an outing since June 6, however, so his workload could be limited Friday. Miles may head back to the bullpen immediately after this start, depending on whether Max Scherzer (back) is ready to return from the injured list next week.

Walcott (elbow) began a rehab assignment at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday and has gone 3-for-6 with one home run and one stolen base.

Working his way back from internal brace surgery on his right elbow, Walcott has been used in the designated-hitter spot in his first two rehab games. He's been playing catch, but it's not clear when he will be ready to play the field in games. Walcott finished the 2025 season at Double-A Frisco and will either return to that level or move up to Triple-A Round Rock as his rehab advances.

Oliveto (toe) has gone 3-for-13 with a triple, five walks, two RBI and two runs in five games since being assigned to the rookie-level Florida Complex League after being reinstated from Single-A Lakeland's injured list.

Oliveto had already been on a rehab assignment in the FCL prior to being activated from the IL, going 8-for-37 (.216 average) with an 8:6 BB:K over 12 games. The 19-year-old catcher has shown a discerning eye at the plate through 17 total FCL games with a 20.6 percent walk rate across 63 plate appearances. He could get the chance to debut for Lakeland later on this season.
