Meadows went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 7-5 loss to the White Sox.

Meadows homered in his first at-bat since July 27 and later added a walk before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. It was an encouraging showing for the talented 25-year-old, who's slashing .206/.281/.325 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 16 runs scored and three steals across 139 plate appearances this season.

Witt was removed from Friday's game against the Twins with lower-back spasms.

Witt had gone 0-for-3 with a strikeout before his back forced him to make an early exit ahead of the seventh inning. It remains to be seen whether the star infielder will need to miss any starts due to his injury, which would likely lead to more playing time for Nick Loftin or Tyler Tolbert.

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

O'Hoppe will yield to Travis d'Arnaud behind the plate Friday after making three consecutive starts. O'Hoppe went 1-for-12 (.083) with six strikeouts during that three-start stretch.

The Red Sox placed Hicks on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Sept. 4, due to right shoulder tendinitis.

As expected, Hicks will hit the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder injury deemed to be tendinitis. The right-hander has surrendered at least one run in each of his last three appearances, including a four-run outing Wednesday across one-third of an inning. Chris Murphy was recalled from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.

The Red Sox recalled Murphy from Triple-A Worcester on Friday.

Murphy will join Boston as the bullpen replacement for Jordan Hicks, who landed on the injured list with a shoulder injury Friday. Murphy has fared well in the bigs this year to the tune of a 3.05 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 20.2 frames, though he'll most likely be limited to middle-relief work while with the Sox.

The Twins recalled Pereda from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Pereda joins the active roster for the first time since being optioned Aug. 12, replacing DaShawn Keirsey. Pereda will provide some catching depth behind Ryan Jeffers (head), who was removed from Thursday's game after taking a foul tip to the mask. If Jeffers is forced to miss time, Pereda and Mickey Gasper would handle catcher duties.

The Twins optioned Keirsey to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Keirsey never registered a plate appearance during his four-day stint in the big leagues, though he did manage to steal a base and score a run as a pinch runner. Sporting a .324 OPS through 70 games in the majors this year, he'll return to Triple-A in favor of Jhonny Pereda, who was recalled from St. Paul in a corresponding move.

The Rangers placed Garcia (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

The Rangers moved Garcia to the injured list to give him the time he needs to recover after missing the team's last three games with a Grade 2 strained right quad. Manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that he's optimistic the 32-year-old outfielder will be able to return from the shelf after a minimum-length stay, per Wilson, which would allow Garcia to come back next Friday and play out the final few weeks of the regular season. Dustin Harris was promoted from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the open spot on the active roster.

Tauchman is out of the lineup Friday due to general body soreness, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Tauchman was held out of the lineup with lower body soreness Aug. 23, so it's not a new ailment for the 34-year-old. Tauchman has been out of the lineup for three consecutive games, though it's unclear if all of the absences are due to the soreness. Regardless, Tauchman should be considered day-to-day.

The Rangers transferred Gray (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

A shoulder injury sent Gray to the injured list in mid-August, and now that he's on the 60-day IL, he will have to wait until 2026 to take the mound again. The 33-year-old will finish the year with 12 earned runs allowed across just 14 innings out of the bullpen alongside a 12:6 K:BB. He is due to become a free agent this offseason.
