Pinango is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Even with right-hander Landen Roupp taking the mound for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Pinango will be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Myles Straw starts in left field and bats eighth. Since returning to the majors June 27, Pinango has gone 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts.

Springer (personal) is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Springer was moved from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Saturday and is expected to join the Blue Jays for their series in San Francisco, but he will not be in the lineup for the series opener. Sean Keys will serve as Toronto's designated hitter and bat fifth.

Loftin went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The Royals' batters dominated in Monday's series finale, scoring a run in all eight frames. Loftin contributed to his team's six-run first inning with an RBI single before driving in another run on a groundout in the seventh. It was his eighth multi-hit game of the season and his third of at least three hits. Loftin is slashing .236/.332/.382 with one steal, 16 extra-base hits and 27 RBI across 185 plate appearances this season.

The Red Sox optioned Gamboa to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.

After being recalled from Triple-A last Wednesday, Gamboa made two appearances out of the Red Sox bullpen, giving up two earned runs in 3.1 innings. He'll head back to the minors to clear room on the active roster for left-hander Patrick Sandoval (biceps), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and is expected to join the rotation later this week.

Sandoval is on the cusp of making his first appearance in the big leagues since June 21, 2024, as his recovery from internal brace surgery on his elbow and related setbacks had extended his stay on the shelf for more than two weeks. He's expected to make his Red Sox debut Thursday against the White Sox, either as a starter or bulk reliever, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. The left-hander ran his pitch count up to 68 in his final rehab start with Double-A Portland on Saturday, so he could be operating with a bit of a workload restriction Thursday.

Perez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The Royals jumped on Cristopher Sanchez for nine runs through four innings, with Perez chipping in with a solo homer off the All-Star left-hander in the second frame. It was the 11th home run of the season for Perez and first since June 18. It's a good sign for the Royals to see the veteran catcher display his power Monday, especially after he missed three-straight games due to a sore elbow.

Maile went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, one walk and an additional run scored during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The Royals jumped ahead with six runs in the first inning, which was capped off by Maile's three-run long ball off All-Star southpaw Cristopher Sanchez. It was Maile's first major-league game of the season after his contract was selected from Triple-A Omaha by the Royals on Thursday. The veteran catcher could see some reps behind home plate on days when Carter Jensen is not in the lineup, as Salvador Perez is being limited to DH duties while managing a sore elbow.

Tolbert went 5-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The bats were hot for the Royals on Monday, with seven of the nine starters logging at least two hits and five players -- including Tolbert -- driving in at least two runs. However, the 28-year-old Tolbert stood out from his teammates with a career-high five hits -- including his first home run of the season -- while falling a triple shy from the cycle. Thanks to Monday's performance, he is now slashing .333/.383/.429 with nine steals, three RBI, two extra-base hits and 13 runs scored across 48 plate appearances.

Cameron (5-6) earned the win against the Phillies on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and five walks while striking out seven across five innings.

It wasn't exactly smooth sailing for Cameron, who allowed at least two baserunners in each of his first three frames. However, he limited the damage to just one run on an RBI double from Alec Bohm in the first inning, and Cameron received plenty of support from his Royals teammates, who tagged Cristopher Sanchez for nine runs before the Phillies' starter was chased out of the game in the fourth. It was the fourth time in 17 starts this season that Cameron recorded at least seven strikeouts and the sixth time he's yielded one run or less. He'll take a 4.77 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 88.2 innings into his next start, tentatively slated for this weekend on the road against the Orioles.

Matz (ankle) will embark on a rehab assignment Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Matz is ready to take the last step in his recovery from a left ankle sprain that caused him to land on the 15-day injured list in late June. He may need just one or two outings in the minors before he's ready to return to the big club, though it's unclear whether his reinstatement from the IL will come before or after the All-Star break.
