The Athletics called up Alvarado from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Alvarado will take T.J. McFarland's spot in the A's bullpen. The 26-year-old reliever has cruised to a 3.18 ERA and a 34:13 K:BB over 28.1 innings at Triple-A, but he's yielded five runs in six innings with the Athletics this season.

The Orioles optioned Young to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Young was brought up to make a start Wednesday against Texas, and he yielded four runs in four innings during the appearance. He'll head back to Norfolk, where he's logged a 2.63 ERA and a 17:4 K:BB across 27.1 innings. Kade Strowd will take Young's spot on the active roster.

The Orioles recalled Strowd from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Strowd has bounced between Norfolk and Baltimore this season, and he'll be back on the big-league roster for the first time since May 20. The 27-year-old logged a 5.02 ERA and a 36:10 K:BB over 28.2 innings with Norfolk. He'll replace Brandon Young on the 26-man roster.

Manager Stephen Vogt said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Ramirez (forearm) is "probably not going to be able to play" Friday against the Cardinals.

The 32-year-old had X-rays come back negative after being hit in the right forearm by a pitch Thursday versus Toronto, but it appears the contusion will still cause him to miss at least one game. Ramirez should be considered day-to-day until the Guardians update his status.

Manager John Schneider said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Guerrero (forearm) is likely to be in the lineup Friday against the Red Sox.

The 26-year-old slugger had an injury scare Thursday against the Guardians when he was hit by a pitch in the right forearm, but he was diagnosed with a contusion after X-rays came back negative and appears to have avoided a serious injury. Even if Guerrero ends up receiving a rest day Friday in Boston, it sounds as though he should be back in the lineup quickly for Toronto.

The Yankees promoted Jones from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Jones earned the promotion after slashing .274/.389/.594 with 16 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 49 contests. He also struck out at a 33.7 percent rate, and whether Jones is ultimately able to make enough contact against higher-level pitching will determine his future, as he has the physical tools to be a star.

Perez's success this season can be partially attributed to a tweaked batting stance, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Perez changed the angle of his front foot hoping to not pull off the ball as much, and so far, the results have been positive. The outfielder has a robust .983 OPS through 25 games, up from .683 across 112 regular-season games during his 2024 rookie campaign. The switch-hitting Perez has made his most noticeable jump from the right side of the plate against lefty pitchers. Last year in those matchups, he had a .594 OPS. So far in 2025, Perez has boosted that figure up to a sizzling 1.424, albeit in only 19 plate appearances. The 25-year-old is firmly establishing himself as Detroit's right fielder, and his numbers warrant fantasy attention.

Eovaldi (triceps) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Mariners, MLB.com reports.

The Rangers will activate him from the IL a few hours prior to Friday's 8:05 p.m. ET opening pitch. Eovaldi has ben on the shelf since June 1 due to right triceps fatigue, but he's been given the green light to rejoin the Rangers rotation after bypassing a minor-league rehab assignment and instead tossing about 50 pitches over three simulated innings of live batting practice last weekend. He checked out fine after a bullpen session Monday and isn't expected to be operating with any major workload restrictions Friday.

Straw went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Guardians.

The veteran outfielder continues to get regular playing time while Daulton Varsho (hamstring) remains sidelined. Straw is batting .292 (7-for-24) over his last seven starts dating back to June 11, and on the season he's slashing .272/.303/.346 with one homer, six steals, 14 RBI and 20 runs in 148 plate appearances.

Harrison allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four over four innings for Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.
