  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Returning from IL

The Rangers activated Martin (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Martin avoided a rehab assignment while dealing with right shoulder fatigue and seemed to be in a holding pattern after throwing a bullpen Tuesday. With the right-hander rejoining the Rangers' bullpen, Kumar Rocker was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

  • Sean Burke SP | CHW

White Sox's Sean Burke: Goes seven innings in no-decision

Burke did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts over seven innings.

Burke cruised through six innings before losing a 2-0 lead in the seventh. He threw a season-high seven frames and generated an impressive 15 whiffs on 96 pitches. The 25-year-old has now logged at least six innings in five of his past seven appearances, yielding more than two earned runs just once during that stretch. On the season, he owns a 4.03 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 50:32 K:BB across 67 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Astros next week.

  • Cole Ragans RP | KC

Royals' Cole Ragans: Officially back on mound

The Royals reinstated Ragans (groin) from the injured list Thursday.

Ragans is set to take the mound Thursday in St. Louis for the second part of a doubleheader. This will be the southpaw's first start since May 16 when he injured his groin. In a corresponding move, the Royals designated Thomas Hatch for assignment.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Lacks command in no-decision

Mize did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the White Sox, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Mize limited the damage to a two-run fourth inning despite generating only four whiffs on 93 pitches and issuing a season-high four walks. After completing at least five frames in each of his first eight starts, the 28-year-old has logged just eight total innings over his past two outings. He'll take a 2.91 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB across 55.2 innings into a road matchup with the Orioles next week.

  • Thomas Hatch RP | ARI

Royals' Thomas Hatch: DFA'd after game one

The Royals designated Hatch for assignment Thursday.

Hatch was selected from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday prior to the first game of a doubleheader against the Cardinals. While the right-hander did not appear in the game, his designation for assignment comes prior to the second half of the twin bill. In a corresponding move, Cole Ragans (groin) was reinstated from the injured list to start Game 2.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Perfect at the plate in win

Meidroth went 2-for-2 with three walks and one RBI in Thursday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Meidroth was a thorn in the Tigers' side all game, giving the White Sox a 2-0 lead with an RBI single in the fourth. He's opened June on a tear, going 10-for-17 with four multi-hit efforts in his first five games. While he's homered just once this season, the rookie is slashing an impressive .312/.401/.369 with eight RBI, 18 runs scored and eight steals across 162 plate appearances.

  • Tanner Schobel SS | MIN

Twins' Tanner Schobel: Promoted to Triple-A

Schobel was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul after hitting .295/.375/.470 with seven home runs and seven stolen bases in 49 games at Double-A Wichita. He went 0-for-3 in his first game Wednesday for St. Paul.

The 68th overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft didn't impress the last two seasons at Double-A (.634 OPS in 2023 and .637 OPS in 2024) but has found more power this season. He's also reduced his strikeout rate to 14.2%, the lowest of his career. He'll need to show he can maintain these improvements in Triple-A.

The 25-year-old has been on a tear since returning from the injured list May 27, slashing .323/.364/.710 with three homers, three doubles, four RBI and seven runs across just 33 plate appearances. However, he may not be an everyday presence in the lineup given Detroit's strong complement of outfielders.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Departs mid at-bat Thursday

Langeliers departed Thursday's game in the sixth inning after appearing to pull something on his left side during a swing, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Langeliers ended his day Thursday going 1-for-4 with a double, but his injury occurred in the final one of those at-bats. Logan Davidson subbed in for Langeliers as the designated hitter. It was later deemed that Langeliers departed due to left flank soreness, and he is set to receive an MRI to determine the severity of the issue, Martin Gallegos MLB.com reports.
