Bazzana is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

The left-handed-hitting Bazzana will be left out of the lineup for the second time in the Guardians' last three matchups versus a left-handed starting pitcher. Angel Genao will fill in at second base for Bazzana, who is slashing just .192/.306/.240 (65 wRC+) over 121 plate appearances versus same-handed pitching this season.

Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

The left-handed-hitting Lowe will retreat to the bench while southpaw Framber Valdez toes the rubber for the Tigers. Rhys Hoskins will replace Lowe at first base and will bat sixth.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Bailey will get a breather after he started behind the plate in the Guardians' previous two contests. The Guardians will turn to Austin Hedges to handle catching duties Wednesday.

Halpin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

The Guardians will leave the Halpin on the bench for the fifth game in a row, with the left-handed-hitting outfielder sitting twice against right-handed starters during that stretch. Halpin looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role versus righties after the Guardians added Jo Adell and Nathaniel Lowe at the trade deadline and called up one of their top position prospects in Angel Genao from Triple-A Columbus last week.

Bellinger (hamstring) was spotted running the bases during pregame warmups Wednesday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Per MLB.com, manager Aaron Boone said that Bellinger ran the bases at about "90 percent of his top speed" Tuesday, and the outfielder appeared to be moving at less than full speed once again Wednesday. Running on consecutive days is a step in the right direction nonetheless for Bellinger, who had already resumed taking on-field batting practice and shagging flyballs in the outfield since landing on the shelf July 26. As soon as he completes a full running and defensive progression, Bellinger will likely head out on a rehab assignment before potentially returning from the 10-day injured list in late August or early September.

Meidroth (wrist) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Reds.

With the discomfort in his left wrist having subsided, Meidroth will check back into the starting nine after he had been relegated to a bench role for the White Sox's previous two contests. Meidroth will pick up a start at shortstop for the first time all season while the White Sox's main option at that position, Colson Montgomery, slides over to third base to fill in for a resting Miguel Vargas.

Vargas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Though Vargas slugged a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss, he's slashing just .198/.288/.396 with four long balls, 15 runs, nine RBI and one steal in 23 games since the All-Star break. Vargas had started every game since June 22, so manager Will Venable will give the 26-year-old a breather with the hope that the rest day helps ignite his bat over the remaining six and a half weeks of the season.

The Tigers optioned Diaz to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

He's being sent out in order to make space for the return of Enmanuel De Jesus (personal) from the paternity list. Diaz made one scoreless appearance during his brief stint with the Tigers.

De Jesus was away from the team for only one day while welcoming a new addition to the family. Yilber Diaz was sent down to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding roster move.

The Mariners claimed MacIver off waivers from the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

MacIver will report to Triple-A Tacoma, where he will provide the Mariners with some catching depth. The 29-year-old has hit .270/.344/.459 at the Triple-A level in 2026.
