McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

McNeil will take a seat for the series finale after he had started in each of the previous three contests and served as the Athletics' table setter in the past two games. Tommy White will fill in for McNeil at first base Wednesday, while shortstop Donovan Walton receives a look out of the leadoff spot.

The Athletics recalled Rom from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

After claiming Rom off waivers from the Brewers on Tuesday, the Athletics could have stashed the lefty at Triple-A Las Vegas, but he'll report to the big club right away and provide a fresh arm out of the bullpen. Rom -- who struck out 11 batters and allowed two earned runs on six hits and four walks in 5.2 frames with the Brewers this season -- is likely to serve as a multi-inning reliever for the Athletics.

Altuve (foot) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt in San Francisco.

Altuve departed Tuesday's 4-1 loss after being hit on the left foot by a pitch. Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Altuve remains sore and will be evaluated by team doctors when the team returns home this weekend, according to Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. Nick Allen will fill in for Altuve at second base Wednesday.

The Athletics optioned Tur to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Tur will give up his spot on the active roster to lefty Drew Rom, who was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move. After allowing three earned runs over two innings and tossing 33 pitches in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Rays, Yur was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for at least the next day or two had he stuck around with the Athletics.

The Athletics recalled Juenger from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Juenger was optioned to Las Vegas just four days ago, but he'll rejoin the big club after the Athletics placed lefty Jose Suarez (hip) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old righty has made eight relief appearances for the Athletics this season, striking out five batters over 9.1 innings while giving up six earned runs on 15 hits and three walks.

Simpson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Athletics, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The fleet-footed Simpson will get a rare day off after he had started in each of the previous 11 tilts. Jonny DeLuca will grab a start in left field while Simpson gets a breather.

The Athletics placed Suarez on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a right hip strain, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

With Suarez hitting the shelf and right-hander Yunior Tur getting optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas, the Athletics will call up right-hander Hayden Juenger and left-hander Drew Rom to fill the open spots in the bullpen. Suarez has been working in a long-relief role for the Athletics since being acquired from the Mariners in May and owns a 4.69 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 40.1 innings over 33 appearances.

Heim is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rays.

Heim started at catcher in each of the Athletics' last three games, so he will get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Brian Serven will be behind the dish.

Wilson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rays.

Wilson appears to be getting a routine day off after producing a weak .545 OPS so far through eight games in August. With Wilson sitting, Donovan Walton will cover shortstop, and Zack Gelof will handle second base as the Athletics look to avoid the series sweep.

Hill (4-2) earned the win over Seattle on Tuesday after retiring all four batters he faced.

Hill entered with two outs in the sixth inning with the Mariners up 1-0. He ended that frame by inducing a groundout, and then got three more groundouts in the top of the seventh. Hill subsequently moved into position for the victory when New York scored four times in the bottom of the inning. The left-hander had given up four runs over his previous five outings spanning 4.1 frames, so he'll look to use Tuesday's strong appearance as a catalyst to getting back on track. On the season, Hill holds a 4.40 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB across 45 innings over 53 relief outings while notching nine holds and one save.
