Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Aiming for mound work Saturday
Rodon (elbow/hamstring) hopes to throw off a mound Saturday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
The mound session would be in a controlled environment like a live batting practice session. If Rodon gets through that with no issues, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment next week. The veteran southpaw has been working his way back from offseason elbow surgery and hit a speed bump recently when he came down with right hamstring tightness. The hamstring issue does not seem to have set him back much, as Rodon could still be ready for his season debut before the end of April.

Everson Pereira LF | CHW
White Sox's Everson Pereira: Sitting out Friday
Pereira (ankle) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.
Pereira was removed from the White Sox's last game Wednesday versus the Marlins due to left ankle soreness. It's unclear whether the injury is still lingering or if manager Will Venable simply preferred Tristan Peters in right field for Chicago's home opener. Pereira has started five games in right field this season, while Peters has made six starts in total (four in center field, two in right field).

Johan Oviedo SP | BOS
Red Sox's Johan Oviedo: Lands on IL with elbow strain
The Red Sox placed Oviedo on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right elbow strain, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Oviedo's velocity in his first appearance out of the bullpen was down considerably, and the IL move offers an explanation. Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Oviedo has undergone X-rays and an MRI, and those results would be compared to previous imaging, per Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston.

Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Goes on paternity leave
The Red Sox placed Whitlock on the paternity leave list Friday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Whitlock will be away for the next 1-to-3 days while welcoming a new addition to the family. The setup man has made three scoreless appearances out of the Boston bullpen in the early going this season, recording one hold with a 4:2 K:BB.

Tyler Uberstine SP | BOS
Red Sox's Tyler Uberstine: Recalled from Triple-A
The Red Sox recalled Uberstine from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
It's the first big-league promotion for Uberstine, who was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason. The right-hander tossed four innings of one-run ball in his first start of the season with Worcester and will provide the Boston bullpen with some length.

Zack Kelly RP | BOS
Red Sox's Zack Kelly: Summoned from minors
The Red Sox recalled Kelly from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Kelly was a late cut in spring training but gets an early opportunity with the big club. The right-hander put up a 4.58 ERA and 35:12 K:BB over 35.1 frames for the Red Sox last season. He'll operate in middle relief.

Cody Bradford RP | TEX
Rangers' Cody Bradford: Makes first rehab start
Bradford (elbow) allowed two runs on three hits over two innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. He didn't record a walk or a strikeout.
Bradford pitched in a game for the first time since undergoing an internal brace procedure last June. He allowed a pair of home runs and threw 27 pitches (17 strikes) during the outing. The left-hander is expected to make several starts in the minors before the Rangers make a decision on whether there's a spot for him on the big-league staff.

Stuart Fairchild LF | CLE
Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Playing at Triple-A
Fairchild is batting .333 (6-for-18) with four walks, a double, two home runs, two RBI and five runs scored over five games for Triple-A Columbus.
The 30-year-old Fairchild was unsuccessful in his bid to earn a roster spot with the Guardians and accepted a position with the club's Triple-A affiliate. He's appeared in all but one game for the Clippers and is an experienced major leaguer should the need arise in Cleveland.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Twins' Josh Bell: Homers again Thursday
Bell went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Royals.
The 33-year-old went deep for the second consecutive game by launching a homer off Steven Cruz in the ninth inning. His shot was one of three in the frame that blew the game open. Bell has been a strong point in the Twins lineup, leading the team in RBI with five so far. That production has been especially important for a Minnesota lineup that struggled last season, finishing 25th in total offense.
