Rays' Michael Grove: Rehab assignment begins
Grove (shoulder) started a rehab assignment with the Florida Complex League Rays on Saturday.
Grove has worked a pair of outings so far, allowing one hit and no walks while fanning four over two scoreless innings. The right-hander, who's entering the final stages of his recovery from last year's right shoulder surgery, could become an option for Tampa Bay at some point in June if all continues to go smoothly in the minor leagues.

Guardians' Cade Smith: Collects 19th save
Smith gave up one run on two hits and struck out two in the ninth inning Wednesday, recording his 19th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Nationals.
Back-to-back singles by Curtis Mead and CJ Abrams to lead off the final frame made things interesting, but Smith buckled down and struck out the last two hitters he faced after giving up a sacrifice fly. The right-hander hasn't blown a save since April 14, reeling off 16 straight successful conversions, and on the season he sports a 2.70 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 39:5 K:BB over 26.2 innings.

The 26-year old is now slashing .240/.375/.561 with 40 RBI and 42 runs scored, but he also has 78 strikeouts in 240 plate appearances. Connor Prielipp SP | MIN
Twins' Connor Prielipp: Handed third loss
Prielipp (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the White Sox after giving up six runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out five in 4.1 innings.
Prielipp lost control of the game in the fifth inning, where he gave up three of his six runs after keeping the game close for most of his start. Prielipp has now given up five or more earned runs in consecutive starts after having allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his first five major-league outings. Wednesday's rocky outing raised Prielipp's ERA to 5.13 and WHIP to 1.35 over 33.1 innings. The rookie will look to find his footing at home in a rematch at home against the White Sox next week.

David Sandlin SP | CHW
White Sox's David Sandlin: Wins in MLB debut
Sandlin (1-0) got the win Wednesday against the Twins, allowing one run on one hit and no walks with four strikeouts across six innings.
Sandlin stunned in his professional baseball debut as he retired every batter he faced (18 straight) after giving up a leadoff home run to Byron Buxton. The rookie took the rotation spot of Noah Schultz (knee) after the latter was placed on the 15-day injured list and was highly efficient, needing only 61 pitches (41 strikes) to get through six innings. Sandlin did not cover more than four innings in any of his last four Triple-A starts, but he was able to notch a quality start Wednesday. The 25-year-old is projected to next take the mound in a rematch against the Twins next week.

Jose Soriano SP | LAA
Angels' Jose Soriano: Labors in fourth loss
Soriano (6-4) took the loss Wednesday against Detroit, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out four.
Soriano labored Wednesday, needing 105 pitches (61 strikes) to complete five frames while walking at least a trio of batters for the seventh time this season. The 27-year-old right-hander has come crashing back to earth quite a bit following an amazing start to the year that saw him post a 0.24 ERA through six outings, as Soriano has a 5.35 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across his last 33.2 innings (six starts). He's set to bring what's still an impressive 2.65 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 78:31 K:BB over 71.1 frames overall into a favorable home matchup against the Rockies.
