Royals' Brady Singer: Saddled with 13th loss

Singer (9-13) took the loss Friday at Atlanta, pitching six innings while allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out five.

The Kansas City righty received no support from his offense, but he turned in his 13th quality start of the season with this 98-pitch outing. Singer generated a solid 14 whiffs en route to his five punchouts, with the only blemish on his evening being a two-run Sean Murphy homer in the fourth inning. This performance was a nice high note for the 28-year-old to end the regular season on, as he had pitched to a 6.43 ERA in 21 innings across his four previous September starts. Singer completes his fifth year in the majors with a 3.71 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 170:54 K:BB over 179.2 innings.

Astros' Jose Altuve: Cracks pair of doubles in win

The Houston second baseman knocked two doubles off Joey Cantillo for his 30th and 31st two-baggers of the season. This performance might signal that Altuve is coming out of his cold spell, as he entered the contest hitting just .154 (6-for-39) over his last nine games. Overall, the nine-time All-Star is slashing .295/.350/.439 with 20 homers, 94 runs scored, 65 runs scored and 22 steals in 682 plate appearances across 153 games this season.

The 31-year-old caps a brilliant breakout season in which he was a fantasy star, producing a 2.80 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 166:68 K:BB across 167.1 innings, including a no-hitter on April 1.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Uceta allowed a hit and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning while earning a save against Boston on Friday.

Uceta worked around a one-out single by Vaughn Grissom in the ninth inning to preserve the 2-1 win. It was Uceta's fifth save of the year, with all of them coming during his last 12 appearances. During that span, he's converted each of his five save chances while tallying three holds alongside a 2.77 ERA. For the season, Uceta has produced a terrific 1.51 ERA and 57:8 K:BB through 41.2 innings.

  • Taj Bradley SP | TB

Rays' Taj Bradley: Punches out seven

Bradley allowed three hits and a walk over six shutout frames Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Red Sox.

Bradley didn't face much of a threat as he rolled through his season finale. He needed only 71 pitches to complete the outing and forced 11 whiffs, including four with his splitter. It was Bradley's second quality start over his last seven appearances and he finished the year with back-to-back wins. He posted a 2.90 ERA over 68.1 innings before the All-Star break, but his season ERA ended at 4.11 through 25 starts due to some second-half struggles. Bradley posted a 5.30 ERA while going 4-7 over his final 13 starts this season.

Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Hit hard in loss

Cantillo (2-4) took the loss Friday against Houston, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing three runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out seven.

The Cleveland southpaw entered this contest on a hot streak, posting a 1.10 ERA across 16.1 innings in September, but he struggled in this 93-pitch outing. Cantillo got a taste of what the playoffs could look like as the Astros laced three doubles off him out of their six total base knocks. The 24-year-old did manage to salvage his outing slightly by notching six or more punchouts for the fourth consecutive start. Cantillo wraps up his rookie campaign with a 4.89 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB across 38.1 innings.
