  • Quinn Priester SP | BOS

Red Sox's Quinn Priester: Possibility to pitch Sunday

Priester is an option to start for the Red Sox on Sunday versus the Rays, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Manager Alex Cora has ruled out Brayan Bello and Tanner Houck being used in the regular-season finale, but he didn't dismiss the possibility of Priester making his Red Sox debut. Priester has collected a 5.40 ERA and 42:12 K:BB over 38.1 innings covering nine starts with Triple-A Worcester since being acquired at the trade deadline from the Pirates.

  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Absent from starting nine

Morel is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Boston.

After making three straight starts (two in left field, one at DH), Morel will get a night off. Richie Palacios, Jonny DeLuca and Josh Lowe fill the outfield while Brandon Lowe DHs.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

    Rays' Taylor Walls: Idle Friday

Walls is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

  • Jason Heyward RF | HOU

Astros' Jason Heyward: Idle against lefty

Heyward is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Cleveland.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Not facing lefty

Singleton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Cleveland.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

    Astros' Jeremy Pena: Getting breather

Pena is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians.

  • DJ LeMahieu 3B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Aiming to be available for ALDS

LeMahieu (hip) expects to ramp up baseball activities over the next few days as he aims to be available for the ALDS, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

LeMahieu isn't a given to be included on the Yankees' ALDS roster next week even if he's deemed healthy, but he at least wants to put himself in position to be an option. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since early September with a right hip impingement.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Out of Cleveland lineup

Rocchio is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Astros.

  • Joey Loperfido LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido: On bench Friday

Loperfido is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins.

Loperfido is idle for the third time in seven games, giving way to Jonatan Clase in center field Friday. While Loperfido's playing time in center has been slipping, he's gotten a couple of looks in left field over the last four games.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Exits starting nine

Rizzo is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Pirates.

Rizzo had been in the lineup for each of the previous four tilts, reaching base eight times, but he'll get a day off Friday. Oswaldo Cabrera is at first base and hitting ninth for the Yankees.
