Vazquez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

After starting at catcher each of the last three days, Vazquez will get a break for Monday's series opener versus the Halos. Collin Price will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Astros

The Angels recalled Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake and he will start at second base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Astros.

The Angels needed more depth in the infield after placing both Vaughn Grissom (oblique) and Adam Frazier (elbow) on the 10-day injured list, so Guzman and Trey Mancini will both join the big club's 26-man roster. Guzman appeared in 13 major-league games for the Angels in 2025 and went 8-for-42 (.190) with two home runs and three RBI. He's been far more productive at the plate in Triple-A, where he has a .336/.403/.571 slash line with nine steals (in 13 attempts), 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 268 plate appearances.

Meyers is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Angels.

Meyers started all three games in center field over the weekend against the Athletics, but he'll get some rest for Monday's lid lifter versus the Halos. Taylor Trammell will get the call in center field for the Astros.

Schanuel said that he is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Astros due to lingering left ankle soreness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel missed the minimum 10 days with left ankle tendinitis before being activated Saturday and starting each of the Angels' last two contests at first base. He added Monday that he will not need to go back on the injured list, but Schanuel could have to play at less than 100 percent for a bit as he navigates his nagging ankle problem.

Emerson was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Orioles due to back tightness, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Emerson had been set to start at shortstop and bat eighth in the series opener, but he's now got a back issue to contend with. Consider the rookie infielder day-to-day for the time being.

The Athletics activated Muncy (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Muncy has been out of commission since late April due to a fractured left hand. He went 10-for-27 with three home runs and two doubles in seven minor-league rehab games, which was enough to convince the Athletics he was ready to rejoin the active roster. Muncy played some shortstop on his rehab assignment, and with Zack Gelof faring well at third base, Muncy could see some action at both spots on the left side of the infield, at least until Jacob Wilson (shoulder) returns from the IL.

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

The Blue Jays will spare the left-handed-hitting Sanchez from a matchup with a tough lefty in Cristopher Sanchez and give him a breather in the series opener. With Sanchez on the bench, Toronto will go with Nathan Lukes and Yohendrick Pinango as its starters in the corner outfield.

Valenzuela is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Tyler Heineman will step in behind the plate for the series opener while Valenzuela gets a well-deserved breather following a productive weekend series against the Orioles. Valenzuela caught all three games against Baltimore, going 5-for-9 with two home runs, two doubles, one walk, five RBI and three runs. Though he currently sits atop the depth chart at catcher, Valenzuela could see his playing time get curbed dramatically as soon as the upcoming weekend, when Alejandro Kirk (thumb) may be ready to return from the 60-day injured list.

The Athletics optioned Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

The Athletics had to make room on the 26-man roster after Max Muncy (hand) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday, and Hernaiz was selected to move down to Triple-A. He has a .606 OPS with three steals, one home run and seven RBI over 134 plate appearances this season but has gone 3-for-26 (.115) across his last nine games. Hernaiz will work on his approach at the plate with Las Vegas and could return to the big club should the Athletics need depth in the infield.
