Diaz (side) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Diaz was pulled from Friday's game due to tightness in his left side, and the Rays will hold him out of Saturday's contest to give him time to recover. Jake Fraley will work as Tampa Bay's designated hitter while Diaz sits, opening up right field for Jonny DeLuca.

The Rays designated Gomez for assignment Saturday, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Gomez has gotten off to a poor start this season, logging a 6.23 ERA and 1.67 WHIP with a 13:10 K:BB through 17.1 innings, and he'll now end up as the odd man out of a roster spot following Garrett Cleavinger's (calf) return from the injured list. Gomez, 26, owns a 5.11 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in his MLB career and could end up spending the rest of the season as organizational depth if he clears waivers.

The Rays reinstated Cleavinger (calf) from the injured list Saturday, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Cleavinger's rehab assignment got off to a shaky start, but he was able to clean things up quickly and finished his last four appearances with just one hit and one walk allowed over 3.1 shutout innings. Now fully healthy, the 32-year-old will likely claim a high-leverage role in the Rays' bullpen, though Bryan Baker is still the favorite for saves. Yoendrys Gomez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Anthony went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday's 3-1 win over the Astros.

Multi-hit performances were not meant to be noteworthy for Anthony, but the outfielder is having a rough go of it early in 2026. He entered Friday on a 4-for-31 (.129) slide over the previous nine contests and is batting .230 with one home run and five RBI through 27 games.

Gray (hamstring) threw a live batting practice session Friday, Tim Crowley of MLB.com reports.

Gray got up and down three times during the session in what was an encouraging development for the Red Sox's rotation. Interim manager Chad Tracy was pleased with how Gray looked during the live session and will consult with others to determine the right-hander's next steps. Gray landed on the 15-day injured list following an abbreviated start April 20 and is eligible to return Wednesday.

Martin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Martin raised his batting average to .333 with a three-hit performance in Friday's loss, but the Twins will keep him in the dugout to begin Saturday's game. Matt Wallner will start in right field and bat seventh.

Lewis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.

Lewis will get a day off to reset after going 0-for-7 with three strikeouts through the first two games of the series. His absence will give Tristan Gray a start at the hot corner.

The Athletics recalled Morales from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Morales was optioned to Triple-A on April 4 after giving up 10 earned runs in just 7.1 innings across his first two starts. His performance at Las Vegas hasn't been much better (8.76 ERA, 2.23 WHIP), but the A's will bring him back to the big leagues nonetheless to replace Brady Basso. Eleven of Morales' 12 career major-league appearances have been as a starter; however, his recent struggles make it likely that he works in long relief while with the A's.

Osuna started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 5-4 win over Detroit.

Osuna's double plated the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning, and he's now 4-for-12 with two RBI since his call-up. With news that Wyatt Langford (forearm) was pulled from an extended spring training game Thursday due to continued soreness, the lefty-hitting Osuna should remain in the outfield mix. All six of his starts have come against right-handed starters, although Osuna is usually lifted for a pinch hitter when a lefty reliever enter games. Sixteen of his 17 plate appearances have come against righties.

The Athletics optioned Basso to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Basso made three appearances after being promoted from Triple-A on April 20, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He'll aim to get back on track in the minors; meanwhile, the A's will call up Luis Morales to replace Basso and give their bullpen a fresh arm.
