Gray is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Gray had been occupying the strong side of a platoon at third base over the past couple of weeks, but he appears set to move back into more of a utility infield role after Royce Lewis returned from the injured list. Lewis will make his second straight start at third base Wednesday, while Gray has been on the bench for both contests.

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Jeffers looks to be receiving a routine day off after starting in four of the Twins' previous five games. Victor Caratini will handle catching duties Wednesday, forming a battery with lefty starter Connor Prielipp in the latter's MLB debut.

Rice is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Boston.

The left-handed-hitting Rice had started each of the last four games versus lefties, but he will take a seat Wednesday as the Red Sox send southpaw Ranger Suarez to the hill. Paul Goldschmidt is handling first base and batting leadoff for the Yankees.

Garcia was removed from Wednesday's game after the fifth inning with an undisclosed injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear what exactly happened with Garcia, as he struck out looking in the bottom of the fifth inning before being removed for defense prior to the start of the sixth. He had two popups in addition to the strikeout before departing. Garcia should be considered day-to-day until the Royals update his status.

The Tigers selected Smith's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

Smith was off to a terrific start with Toledo, yielding two runs with a 16:0 K:BB over 10 innings. The 36-year-old will give the Tigers a fresh bullpen arm and will be making his first major-league appearance since 2024 when/if he gets into a game.

The Tigers optioned De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

De Jesus was hammered for seven runs (five earned) while throwing 49 pitches over 1.1 innings during an ugly relief outing in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. He will be replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by right-hander Burch Smith, whose contract was selected from Triple-A.

Keith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Though the left-handed-hitting Keith will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench, he could check in once lefty DL Hall -- who is opening the game for the Brewers -- is lifted from the game. Jahmai Jones will pick up a start at designated hitter in place of Keith.

Dingler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Despite going hitless in nine at-bats over his last two starts, Dingler still ranks fourth among all qualified catchers this season with an .873 OPS. He'll get a chance to catch his breath Wednesday, paving the way for Jake Rogers to receive a turn behind the plate.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday on Foul Territory that Volpe (shoulder) is "still ten days [or] two weeks away [from being reinstated off the IL], I would think."

Volpe is 6-for-15 with one home run, two stolen bases and a 1:4 BB:K over his first five rehab contests between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Boone said that the shortstop has had "zero issues" with his surgically repaired left shoulder the last couple months, but Volpe hasn't completed a full game yet on his rehab assignment, so he still has some buildup to do. A return in 10 days would put Volpe in line for his season debut May 2, though a more specific timetable will be available in the coming days. Volpe should receive the lion's share of playing time at shortstop once he is activated, with Jose Caballero shifting to a super-utility role.

Anthony is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Anthony has fared well against left-handed pitching this season with a .320/.370/.360 slash line over 27 plate appearances versus southpaws, but the Red Sox will give him the night off nonetheless while Max Fried takes the hill for the Yankees. With Anthony on the bench, Andruw Monasterio will enter the lineup at designated hitter for Boston.
